We all saw it coming a mile away. Outgoing Senate Majority leader Chuck Schumer wrote an open letter to incoming Senate Majority leader John Thune saying Democrats will "commit to working in a bipartisan fashion to process each nominee" of Trump's cabinet, which meant that Democrats were about to pull out all the stops to drag each person's name through the mud, damage reputations on a personal level, and go so far as to blatantly lie if they have to.
Even before the opening salvos, I predicted Donald Trump's nominees were going to be Kavanaugh'd, and sure enough, the Kavanaughsation has begun.

Yeah, I'm making "Kavanaughsation" a word.
Pete Hegseth has now become the center of numerous attacks on his character, with accusations ranging from "He's a white supremacist" because people don't stop to study what a symbol is before they go off about it, to the fact that he's a drunk. Just like Kavanaugh beforehand, the sources that all claim these things about Hegseth are dubious. NBC released a report where ten people came forward to claim Hegseth was inebriated on the Fox News set all the time, and wouldn't you know it? Every single one is anonymous.
Of course, this accusation is being destroyed by people actually willing to put their names out there, such as Rachel Campos-Duffy, Will Cain, Dr. Nicole Saphier, and Lisa Boothe.
As usual, the left wants to run as many smears and lies as they can through their network's cameras and into whatever living rooms are still tuning in, and you know CNN isn't going to miss out on this opportunity to pearl clutch and fearmonger about anything involving Trump.
Sadly for them, CNN also hired Scott Jennings.
Jennings has a way of calmly coming into the conversation and making everyone look like Chicken Little, reminding everyone that the sky is not actually falling, and they're embarrassing themselves with over-dramatics.
Jennings pointed out that Hegseth's nomination is starting to look a lot like Kavanaugh's, with all sorts of accusations and scary words being thrown around and "people piling on without really any substantive, on-the-record stuff to back it up."
Jennings recommended that Hegseth continue to fight for his reputation and get everybody under oath at a hearing, "and then we see where the chips fall."
NEW: Scott Jennings points out the Pete Hegseth confirmation is now starting to seem like the Brett Kavanaugh hearings... because the allegations are flying, but not proven.

Jennings is right. The pattern of the left is to destroy reputations, not confirm whether a person is fit for a job. Hegseth, and indeed every nominee of Trump's, has nothing to gain by backing down. The Democrats aren't going to go easy on the next guy, either. This is Donald Trump's cabinet we're talking about here, and the Democrats are terrified about the efficacy of a cabinet spurred on by the same desire to destroy the corrupted system from the inside that Trump has.
As I wrote previously, this is personal for Trump, and there are many people who want to give him what assistance they can to truly stop the madness that happened under Joe Biden.

This was always going to get ugly because what Trump is going to do is going to have consequences for decades:
As such, I see the Democrats going absolutely overboard in ways that make the Kavanaugh hearing look like an elementary school stage production. The fearmongering they will resort to will be such that future generations will want to study it.
There is no way that the Democrats will want their deepest secrets uncovered, and they will do what they always have done in order to avert losing even an ounce of their power: they will resort to lies, drama, and fear. Schumer's letter confirms this for me, as it sets the tone for the Democrats being "the adults in the room," and as such, any overblown accusations they resort to will be taken with some form of belief by onlookers.
If anything, the attacks on Hegseth only prove their fear of this.
