We are watching in very slow motion (although it may not seem like it) the unraveling of the American version of western civilization. “What are you talking about?” you might be wondering. Possibly you have thought this yourself and are wondering what I am referring to specifically.
I am happy to do so here.
One of the things that unite people in any country is language. English is the unofficial language here in the United States, being we are a melting pot of diversity with many different languages and dialects. Yet most people speak the Queen’s English here in the states and unlike moi, do it very well.
Now, what language you speak is not as important as long as we have a mutual understanding that those words we use have meaning. If we do not have a starting point where we agree, then everything else falls apart in our dealings with others.
If you are giving directions to someone and tell them to go east for X miles, the person driving should expect to be driving in the direction the sun rises. However, if you feel that direction should be called west and insist on it, you will get lost quickly. No matter how you feel about it and protest, the word has a meaning and it is not negotiable.
This thought ran across my mind when I came across this story about USA swimming and how they are redefining what makes people male and female.
From the Independent Women’s Forum …
USA Swimming recently announced testosterone eligibility requirements for women‘s swimming. The new policy requires elite male- to- female transgender swimmers to show testosterone levels of less than 5 nmol/L for a period of at least thirty-six (36) months before the date of application.
Most females (including elite athletes) have testosterone levels of 0.12 to 1.79 nmo/L.
Studies show that male-bodied athletes can rarely lower their testosterone levels to normal female ranges. Moreover, many of the changes brought about male puberty (such as changes to height and wingspan) are permanent and unalterable. The science is clear: testosterone suppression does not come close to leveling the proverbial playing field.
USA Swimming’s insistence that there is some way to eliminate the athletic advantage that post-pubescent males have over females denies science. But it also ignores the fact that this is not only about fair competition – it is also about equal opportunity to compete at all.
This tweet showing the ladies at a female swim meet walking out of a scheduled race accompanied this.
THIS SAYS IT ALL | @IvyLeague female swimmers from across teams walk out holding hands in solidarity ahead of the mile — the one distance event Lia Thomas didn't swim — this speaks VOLUMES.

The ladies, all from different teams walked out in unison to make a point. Thankfully this did not happen in Canada where if you peacefully protest, you might get run over by a horse.
I will be the first to admit that I have no idea what competitive swimming is all about. I have never watched it, will probably never watch it, and I hope that all who do enjoy it to the best of their God-given ability. What I do know is that males are born males and females are females and they have certain things running through their veins that support what they were born as.
As a libertarian, I could give a flying rat’s patootie what anyone wants to be, thinks they are, or how they want to live. When you close that door to where you reside, as long as you are not harming anyone else and not blaring Taylor Swift to disrupt the neighborhood, I’m good with you and I being neighbors.
Yet, for males transitioning to female athletes, they have to test for three years at a level of testosterone that their bodies are going to have trouble doing because of biology. I know a lot of people as of late love to say that the science is settled, well, on biology, that book is really closed.
When a governing body of a sport is trying to straddle a line to defuse a political hot potato and tries to redefine words that have had a very specific meaning for eons, we are in serious trouble. When we can not communicate and use words long-established to have a specific meaning because feelings are hurt, we eventually will stop talking to each other. When that happens, really bad things follow.
As a proud member of the Patriarchy, I’m asking that we allow the guys to do their sports and for the ladies to do theirs. No need to take drugs for three years to make sure you qualify to compete. The hardest thing about competing should be the training, not the pharmaceutical aspect of it.
Let’s make words mean things again.
