Not surprisingly, the same network that gaslit us about "mostly peaceful protests" amid the widespread arson and looting that took place during the George Floyd riots is, in essence, trying to lend credence to the disturbing fan club of an accused assassin.
As RedState covered Sunday, we saw this with the deranged "interview" CNN senior correspondent Donie O'Sullivan conducted with disgraced former New York Times/Washington Post reporter Taylor Lorenz.
In it, both O'Sullivan and Lorenz went back and forth about accused healthcare CEO killer Luigi Mangione, laughing and at times complaining over how admirers of Mangione - including Lorenz - were simply misunderstood. At one point, Lorenz boasted about how her audience has grown thanks to her coverage of Mangione, while his supporters were compared by O'Sullivan to Trump supporters, with O'Sullivan calling both groups "really, really desperate."

In the aftermath of the backlash Lorenz and CNN have received, Lorenz is now trying to defend herself, saying she was just sharing how Mangione's fans feel about him:
Putting aside this isn’t what I said, I said that *his supporters* view him as a “morally good man” (we haven’t even heard him speak so who knows what his actual motivations/morals are). But psychotic wench is a beautiful new phrase thank you Matt :) https://t.co/Dnd8XMW6WU

This is at odds, however, with her well-known disgust for healthcare CEOs:

What is particularly bat-crap crazy about all of this is that O'Sullivan's interview was done in the context of a series he's doing on "misinformation in America" and his belief that right-wing extremism and violence are much more pervasive in our country than the left-wing variety:
After interviewing lefties like Lorenz who celebrate the killing of capitalists, CNN’s Donie O’Sullivan helpfully notes: “While America’s roots are soaked in bloodshed, violence in the country today is mostly from right-wing extremism. "There is simply no equivalent on the left," O'Sullivan went on to declare.
There is no scenario that makes either of these people look good in the aftermath of this interview. None. But hey, at least Mr. O'Sullivan may have finally won a seat at the media "cool kids table" or something:
It's not complicated. He wants to look funny and cool to all the other people around him in journalism. He doesn't challenge her psychotic statements about worshipping a murderer and calling him a moral stand up guy.
He laughed and made an online dating joke. He's terrified of challenging her, because he's terrified what might happen to his career if he does.

It's sad, but it's just who and what the MSM are, and unfortunately, even after all that has been said and done to expose them, it's never going to change.
