Nah, not the shooting kind. We’re talking about the raging civil war within the Democrat Party between the Bernie wing and “everybody else” (as orchestrated by the Democrat Party establishment). A previous article discussed the schism and the reasons why the Democat Establishment fear a Bernie nomination.

The Democrats know that, despite their best efforts to persuade Americans otherwise, the country still supports capitalism over socialism, and that an overt socialist (Communist, in my view) like Bernie would doom the party in November, including destroy the candidacies of down-ballot Democrats in close races.  And they will do anything and everything they can to derail Bernie’s candidacy before the Democrat convention in July, including a barrage of anti-Bernie stories in the legacy media.

Talking heads on CNN and MSNBC have been hand-wringing about Bernie since the Iowa caucuses, and there has been a crescendo since he won the New Hampshire primary. They have even dragged out the 75-year-old fossil James Carville to complain that a Bernie candidacy would be a disaster for the Democrat Party. Here’s some direct evidence of the ongoing civil war:

Democratic strategist James Carville has fired back at Sen. Bernie Sanders after the Vermont independent dismissed him as a “political hack” in an interview with CNN.

“Last night on CNN, Bernie called me a political hack. That’s exactly who the f**k I am!” Carville told Vanity Fair contributor Peter Hamby in a phone interview, according to a tweet Thursday from Hamby. “I am a political hack! I am not an ideologue. I am not a purist. He thinks it’s a pejorative. I kinda like it!”

“At least I’m not a communist,” he added.

That’s some pretty blunt talk in both directions!

The Democrats face a serious conundrum: ride the Bernie wave to a crushing defeat in November or undermine his candidacy like they did in 2016 and run the risk of Bernie voters either voting for President Trump or staying home (10% of them did just that in 2016, and the 2020 numbers would be considerably higher if the Bernie bros sense another Establishment rip-off).

Think that’s crazy? Then check out the results of this unscientific poll among “Democrat Socialists of America” by Krystal Ball, co-host of Rising with the Hill, at Hill.TV. She’s a garden variety leftist with good connections in Bernie land who has made previous contributions at MSNBC, CNN and HuffPost. She ran a private poll that produced some astonishing results. She asked the questions of her DSA pals, “if the General Election came down to Bloomberg vs Trump, who would you vote for?” Note that 63.5% of nearly 47,000 votes cast were in favor of the third category: Neither/stay home.”

This is amazing – albeit unscientific – but it underscores the serious political problem facing the Democrats this year. President Trump is literally destroying the Democrat Party before our very eyes, and it’s grand!
