Good morning, and welcome to RedState's "Morning Minute" — a brief glimpse at which stories are trending at the moment and a look ahead at what the day may bring. Consider this your one-stop shop for news to kickstart your day.
TOP O' THE MORNIN'
WATCH: Tim Sheehy Demolishes Jon Tester So Badly at Debate That the Montana Senate Race May Be Over
That is Tester in a nutshell. He's a typical Beltway-loving Democrat who has been a reliable party man at every opportunity. He's not a Montana-first moderate who stood up to the radicals in his midst.
Dominion and Georgia Face Heat in Court
In normal litigation, parties always make their procedural defenses first. But this is election integrity in Georgia, one of the most highly watched and divisive issues in our country. That is not worthy of a Republican administration directly responding?
When a taxpayer-funded official who has access to children displays a clear tendency to call for violence repeatedly in public forums, silence from his superiors in local government and the local press is not a virtue.
WHAT'S ON TAP?
Today on Capitol Hill...
Since the critters are essentially out/off until after the election, there'll be some quiet days on the Hill. One wonders if some of them are (involuntarily) serving out their final critter days. See, e.g., Jon Tester.
Sen. Rick Scott (FL) is calling for the Senate to reconvene in the wake of Helene to consider a disaster aid package.
Oh, and House Oversight Chair James Comer (R-KY) has some China Tim questions he'd like to see answered.
White House What's Up
President Joe Biden is set to receive some added briefing on the impacts of Helene and then to have a call with certain Rabbis ahead of the High Holidays.
The Homestretch
Vice President Kamala Harris is in D.C. on Tuesday for internal meetings and such. Her husband, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, will attend a campaign event in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. And it's the big night for her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, as he squares off against Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) in the Vice Presidential Debate in New York.
While Vance is gearing up for the debate, former President Donald Trump will also be in Wisconsin to deliver remarks at an event in Waunakee on Tuesday afternoon.
Full Court Press...
It's unclear whether Judge Chutkan will rule today on which portions of Special Counsel Jack Smith's motion setting forth all the alleged misconduct of Trump (in order to determine the immunity issue) will be unsealed and made available to the public, but Trump's objections to Smith's proposed redactions are due today at noon. And once the court receives the objections, I expect she'll rule fairly quickly, so brace yourself for the breathless coverage once Smith's motion is made public.
Sean "Diddy" Combs is appealing the denial of bail in the criminal case against him in the Southern District of New York. Will be interesting to keep an eye on that one.
Also, the recently freed Julian Assange delivered testimony before the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, France, Tuesday morning.

MORNING MUSING
Well, it's here. October (my least favorite month, for numerous reasons). And Vice Presidential Debate Day (night). The assumption that Vance will fare well isn't unfounded. He's nimble, quick-witted, and knows his stuff. But Walz, of course, will have the moderators on his side. And I suspect the leaks and hints at his nervousness over the affair were an intentional effort to set the expectation bar pretty low, so that if he clears it, everyone can emulate his infamous seal clap and bark about what a wonderful job he did. We, of course, will be watching it here at RedState — hope you'll join us on our live blog this evening!
