Sore Loser Katie Porter and Her Primary Night Speech Were a Sight to Behold

Don't go away mad, Katie Porter. Just... go away.

Media Smear Merchants Come for Mark Robinson, Get Derailed by the Facts - and Their Own Video

In what should be considered the "evening update" to that post, the media smear merchants are at it once again, with the Huffington Post taking the lead this time around in spreading the latest out-of-context quote and spinning it to mean something it didn't.

The End of TikTok? A Complete Ban Is Now Closer Than Ever

Even more concerning for TikTok are reports that the White House is planning to support the bill, despite Joe Biden using the application to connect with young people for his presidential campaign.

WHAT'S ON TAP?

Today on Capitol Hill...

Another busy day on the Hill. Some of the key hearings set for Thursday:

  • House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party - "Growing Stakes: The Bioeconomy and American National Security"
  • House & Senate Veterans' Affairs - Joint Hearing - Legislative Presentation of Disabled American Veterans before the House and Senate VSO Joint Hearing
  • House Judiciary - The Weaponization of the Federal Government
  • House Financial Services - Politicized Financial Regulation and its Impact on Consumer Credit and Community Development
  • House Energy and Commerce - Legislation to Protect Americans from the National Security Threats Posed by Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications
  • House Education and the Workforce - "Divisive, Excessive, Ineffective: The Real Impact of DEI on College Campuses"
  • House Judiciary - Presidential Power to Secure the Border

Then, of course, Thursday evening, the House and Senate will be set to receive President Joe Biden's State of the Union Address. One of the big questions, of course, will be Biden's performance. Another: How will the members of the House react? Speaker Johnson is urging GOP members to behave. But what about members of the Hamas Caucus? Will they?

White House What's Up

It's the big day for Biden — he'll be preparing for the SOTU. And then delivering it. And we'll be watching (through covered eyes and with gritted teeth, no doubt). On the bright side, this will hopefully be Biden's last SOTU. And either way, we'll be live blogging the debacle event here at RedState so be sure to join us.

Full Court Press...

The Fulton County Board of Ethics is meeting regarding ethics complaints filed against District Attorney Fani Willis. Speaking of Fulton County, if you didn't have a chance to see defense attorney Ashleigh Merchant's testimony before the Georgia Senate on Wednesday, you're missing out. Gal knows her stuff.

MORNING MUSING

Alexander Graham Bell was granted a patent for the telephone on this date in 1876. What do you suppose he'd think of the cell phones we live on today? (Okay, maybe we don't all live on them — but I'm definitely one of those who does. I'm always pleasantly surprised when I receive my weekly Screen Time report, and it shows it was down.) I wonder — does it really even make sense to call them "phones" anymore?
