As RedState reported, a car slammed into one of the motorcade vehicles Sunday evening, just as the president and First Lady Jill Biden were leaving a dinner at his Wilmington headquarters. The car struck one of the motorcade SUVs, which had the street blocked off. Jill Biden had already taken a seat inside the waiting vehicle, and Joe Biden was approaching the vehicle, responding to a reporter's question when the crash occurred.

The Secret Service ushered the president into his vehicle and quickly surrounded the driver of the car that struck the motorcade. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.

Now, the local police have announced a DUI charge against the driver.

Local Wilmington police were investigating the crash, which means the driver was not considered a serious threat to the president. Police said Monday that they have ruled the crash an accident.

Wilmington police said the 46-year-old driver has been charged with driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and inattentive driving. No further details about the driver were immediately provided.
