Last night wasn’t the first time that Tucker Carlson owned Michael Avenatti, but it was one of the better segments he’s done on the fraudster since his media heyday when he was billed as the “beast” who would take down former President Trump, possibly as a 2020 presidential contender.

Obviously, fulfilling his pledge to ensure Trump didn’t serve the entire four years of his presidency never came to pass, and him being sentenced yesterday to two and a half years in prison for attempting to extort millions from Nike put the final nail in the media’s “Avenatti is the man!” coffin.

Because Avenatti’s fall from grace was so spectacular, and because of how the anti-Trump media wholeheartedly embraced him as the guy who would “save” America from four years of Trump, Carlson spent five minutes last night ripping Avenatti and the media to shreds, bringing on a former prosecutor who blistered him as well over the fact that the guy who the media labeled a “beast” and potential presidential contender was reduced to tears during his sentencing yesterday, a far cry from the air of smugness and supreme confidence that Avenatti routinely put on during media interviews.

“We called him the creepy porn lawyer because he was,” Carlson stated. “But over at CNN, they called him something different. They called him a future president.”

After airing clips of journalists, commentators, and late-night talk show hosts gushing and fawning over Avenatti, Carlson noted that “those were not cable news clips. That was an IQ test and everybody on that tape failed miserably.”

Carlson pointed out that “in a single week of March of 2018” all cable news networks outside of Fox and including ABC, CBS, and NBC News all interviewed Avenatti “147 times.” With that in mind, Carlson said he wanted to get on the action, too, which led to the one interview Avenatti gave to Fox News – which was to Tucker Carlson.

As you can imagine, it was wild. Before we get to the video of last night’s segment, here are two key clips from that 2018 interview Avenatti did with Carlson. In this first clip, as the chyron reads “creepy porn lawyer,” Avenatti asks Carlson when the last time it was he watched porn. Carlson slapped back with a slam dunk:

In the second one which, in my view was the better of the two clips, Carlson called out Avenatti by pointing out that he was shamelessly exploiting porn star Stormy Daniels for his own purposes and should be paying her instead of the other way around:

Watch below as Carlson and former federal prosecutor Francey Hakes both gave Avenatti the prison send-off that he deserves last night:

“I never gloat over a man going to prison, because it’s sad,” Carlson said at one point during his commentary. “However, if there was ever a guy who had a rendezvous with a cell, inevitably it was this guy.”

And to put a finer point on it, as RedState managing editor Jennifer Van Laar previously reported Thursday, Avenatti is also “set to go to trial on 10 counts (out of a 36-count indictment) of tax fraud starting July 13 in Orange County, California.”

So his days of facing a judge and jury are not even close to over.
