Actor James Woods is one of a number of actors and actresses who have “came out of the closet” in the last decade or so as unapologetic, outspoken conservatives because, among other things, they became fed up with their fellow entertainers on the left pretending they spoke for all of Hollywood on political issues.
Woods, who joined Twitter in 2009, has a storied history on the platform, and has been censored and suspended numerous times on questionable grounds. But what he said at the time was the final straw was Twitter suspending him back in April of 2019. He told the Daily Wire the following month that he didn’t plan on using the social media service again because he was fed up with their selective censorship:
“Twitter demanded that I rescind my tweet paraphrasing Emerson,” Woods said. “It now seems they have chosen to delete that tweet from my account without my permission. Until free speech is allowed on Twitter, I will not be permitted to participate in our democracy with my voice. As long as Jack Dorsey remains the coward he seems to be, my Twitter days are in the past.”
But now he’s back – and he didn’t waste any time whatsoever kicking bootie and taking names.
Here’s the tweet that started the fun between the actor and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX):
I was on vacation awhile, avoiding the news. How’d the #Mueller thing work out? The #impeachment scam? Who won the #Iowa caucuses? Is #MichaelAvenatti still a contender for the Democratic nomination for President? How’s #JeffreyEpstein doing?

Cruz, a fan of Woods who blasted Twitter’s censorship of him last May, promptly welcomed him back with digs at fraudster Michael Avenatti and the Iowa caucus debacle:
Welcome back. Avenatti won Iowa. https://t.co/4U45I8sOmy

Woods responded by asking if Avenatti had been arrested yet again for fraud:
Thank you, Senator. Did they arrest him yet again during his acceptance speech? https://t.co/8R5DCcPg3j

President Trump, who also stepped in to defend Woods last May, even gave him a shout-out after reading news of his return:
Welcome back James! https://t.co/m116MGrrRo

Woods replied by telling him he was one of the reasons he decided to rejoin the Twitter gang:
Thank you, Mr. President. You (and America) are winning so much right now, I just couldn’t miss out on all the fun! Please keep making our beloved nation the greatest in history. #Trump2020Landslide https://t.co/JxBmTP3rKS

So. much. winning! I can hardly contain myself.
Michael Avenatti, as you might have already guessed, was unavailable for comment ….
