Why won’t Donald Trump denounce that violent right wing hate group that is on the tip of every one’s tongue today — QAnon.

Yeah — What??

Prior to the Democratic Convention beginning, and continuing throughout, the “outrage of the week” seemed to involve supposed efforts by the Trump Administration to cripple the USPS in an effort to derail the efforts by states controlled by Democrat politicians to push through 11th hour plans to conduct greatly expanded “mail-in” voting for the upcoming November election.  Anecdotal stories of replacement or relocation of processing machines, removal of curbside mailboxes, or enhanced security measures employed to prevent theft of mail from such boxes, all combined into a grand conspiracy to deprive Democrats of a chance to vote — apparently all the voting options that have existed for 50+ years are suddenly insufficient (that is, if you want to cheat and stuff the ballot boxes).  President Trump even contributed to the media and Democrat hysteria over the issue by calling attention to the Democrat plans to ram through “all mail-in” voting under the excuse that COVID-19 makes it too dangerous to vote in person at a polling station.

I stood in a line of at least 100 people yesterday to enter a Costco.  If I had only known.

But, seemingly as quickly as the USPS issue appeared, it seemed to almost disappear as well.  Even though last week was consumed by four nights of the DNC Presidential Telethon, yesterday’s Sunday news shows all seemed to magically raise the same kooky “issue du jour” — will Pres. Trump denounce the “right-wing” hate group “QAnon”.

Here is CNN’s Jake Tapper raising the issue with DHS Acting Secretary Chad Wolfe.

In his closing comments, CNN’s Jake Tapper summoned an Olympic level of mental gymnastics to link Joe Biden’s befriending a young man who stutters with Trump’s supposed praising of “QAnon” conspiracy theorists.

CHUCK TODD:

Has the Senate Intel Committee been officially briefed on QAnon or not?

SEN. MARK WARNER:

I — we have not received an official brief that I can recall on QAnon, but the community, the committee, the community is fairly clear that this is a fringe group that they feel like they are potentially a threat. And the idea that the president of the United States is embracing these folks and say just because they like him and they love their — our country is very bizarre. I mean, I don’t always agree with Karl Rove, but Karl Rove was right. These guys are wack jobs, and the president ought to disavow them.

STEPHANOPOULOS: I got to talk about QAnon. Earlier this week the president had some supportive words for QAnon but the FBI says that group poses a domestic terror threat. Top Republicans like Senator Sasse and Congresswoman Liz Cheney call it nuts, dangerous, lunacy. This should have no place in American politics.

Why won’t the president condemn this group and disavow their support?

MEADOWS: Listen, you — I had to Google it to figure out what it is. You’ve talked about it more, George, than anybody in the White House has talked about it. You know when we look at that — there are a number of conspiracies that we ought to be talking about.

I guess the USPS hoax wasn’t polling as well as the Democrats had hoped, and now their hand-maidens in the media have skipped down to the next “shiny object” given to them to chase.

Mentioned a couple of times in the stories is the claim that the FBI has declared QAnon — whatever it may be — to be a domestic terrorism group.

Don’t believe everything coming out of the press is my advice on the topic, however.
