We sometimes throw around too casually the accusation that "so-and-so hates America." Maybe. But some people live in the United States who I do think hate America, and worst of all, some of them are elected officials - even in the House of Representatives.
One of those is the execrable representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN), who we all wish would shut up and go away, preferably back to Somalia. Instead, we learn on Monday that she's forgoing a rumored run for the Senate in favor of seeking a (safe, sadly) re-election to the House of Representatives.
High-profile "Squad" member Rep. Ilhan Omar effectively closed the door on rumors she would seek Minnesota’s open Senate seat in 2026, with an announcement launching a House re-election bid.
"At a time when our rights are under attack, it is more important than ever to fight back against the chaos, corruption, and callousness of the Trump Administration," the Minneapolis Democrat told Minnesota Public Radio.
"In Minnesota, we know that organized people will always beat organized money. Our campaign is ready to build on our successful grassroots organizing efforts to have a record turnout for the midterms and help win back the majority," she said.
Remember all those times I mentioned that in the upcoming midterms, every one of us on the right had better be prepared, if necessary, to crawl on our hands and knees through a half-mile of scrap iron and busted glass to vote? People like this, like Ilhan Omar, are the reason why. We can't let these people have the majority back. She has continually launched into angry rants, many directed at the country that took her in and allowed her to attain this position, and if she was part of a majority, she would just have that much bigger a platform.

Sadly, Ilhan Omar is in one of the safest of safe seats. She won re-election last fall by over 50 points, crushing the Republican candidate, Iraq-born Dalia al-Aqidi. Omar is very likely in this for the long haul, and by all indications, plans to surpass Nancy Pelosi as the most decrepit elderly Democrat woman to ever sit in the House of Representatives. And she will also continue, using her House seat and her Squad membership, to spout hatred for America.
As for the Minnesota Senate seat, get a load of this:
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz also declined to seek Smith’s seat, leaving his deputy – Flanagan – as the highest-profile Democrat in the race to date.
"At this point in time, I don't want to have my thumb on the scale in any way," Walz said in February.
"I just know we've got a deep bench. We’ve got good folks," said Walz, who may instead consider a third term in St. Paul.
A deep bench? As evidenced by whom, Governor Walz? You? Have you already forgotten what happened to you and the Queen of Word Salads last November? Where is this mythical Democrat "deep bench?" Who do you have to run for President in 2028? Eric "Fang Fang" Swalwell? AOC? The impeccably coiffed Gavin Newsom, who destroyed San Francisco before going on to destroy California? Will you blow the dust off the withered, daffy old Bolshevik from Vermont and give him a chance at last? Or let Her Imperial Majesty Hillary I, Dowager-Empress of Chappaqua, try to fail for a third time?
But in Congress, too many seats are as near-permanent as the various gerrymandering states can make them. If you need motivation to go vote in November of 2026, look at Ilhan Omar and remind yourself that she will still be in the House of Representatives until she dries up and blows away - and we can't let her be in the majority.
