Outgoing Rep. Trey Gowdy (R – S.C.) had quite a few critical words for former F.B.I. Director James Comey during the opening statements at a joint hearing before the House Oversight and Judiciary committees.
It’s definitely something to see:

Gowdy’s statement rightly called out Comey for his conduct and the IG’s assessment that there was no provable bias on Comey’s part.
“Bias is intrinsically harmful,” said Gowdy on Tuesday in a critical observation that goes to the heart of the issues under review. “It is the making up of your mind based on anything other than the facts.”
Gowdy offers a devastating accounting of the bias exposed in the report, a listing that should honestly be shocking to any American.
“Ironically this Inspector General has been accused of softening or watering down his report, when the reality is it was Jim Comey who softened and watered down his press release announcing no charges against Secretary Clinton,’ said Gowdy.
“We see Jim Comey, and Jim Comey alone, deciding which DOJ policies to follow and which to ignore. We see Jim Comey, and Jim Comey alone, deciding whether there is sufficient evidence to support each and every element of a defense.”
“Clearly Jim Comey had lost confidence in the DOJ to handle the case in a way worthy of public trust,” he said, and pointed out that unlike when he had lost trust in the Trump administration, he didn’t make special notes or leak confidential information regarding Obama’s Justice Dept. “He didn’t lift a finger,” he said.
“Instead he appointed himself FBI Director, Attorney General, Special Counsel, lead investigator, and the general arbiter of what is good and right in the world, according to him.”
Ouch.
