Vindication: White House Makes Major Website Update re: COVID Origins, Calls Out Fauci

The White House surprised everyone Friday with a major update to its website regarding COVID-19 and its origins. Now, when you visit covid.gov, you get a dynamic page touting "The True Origins of Covid-19" with a banner that reads, in bold letters: "LAB LEAK."

As indicated in the above tweet, the page then breaks down the origin of the virus — and the misinformation as to its origin pushed on us for years by establishment "experts" like Dr. Anthony Fauci.

“The Proximal Origin of SARS-CoV-2” publication — which was used repeatedly by public health officials and the media to discredit the lab leak theory — was prompted by Dr. Fauci to push the preferred narrative that COVID-19 originated naturally.

The site contains a bulleted list noting five key points:

The virus possesses a biological characteristic that is not found in nature.
Data shows that all COVID-19 cases stem from a single introduction into humans. This runs contrary to previous pandemics where there were multiple spillover events.
Wuhan is home to China’s foremost SARS research lab, which has a history of conducting gain-of-function research (gene altering and organism supercharging) at inadequate biosafety levels.
Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) researchers were sick with COVID-like symptoms in the fall of 2019, months before COVID-19 was discovered at the wet market.
By nearly all measures of science, if there was evidence of a natural origin it would have already surfaced. But it hasn’t.

The site contains a map showing the location of the famed (and blamed) wet market in relation to the WIV. It includes a link to the House Oversight Report on the pandemic (released in December of 2024).

It also highlights the flawed Proximal Origin publication, the likely role of gain-of-function research, the suspect connections with EcoHealth Alliance and Dr. Peter Daszak, and the failures of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Oh, and it points out that Fauci was granted a full and unconditional pardon by former President Joe Biden on his way out the door.

All of this may seem a bit anti-climactic at this point. After all, the acknowledgment that the virus likely leaked from a lab rather than hopping into humans from a bat or a pangolin (Remember the Pangolins!) has been out there for a while now — it's no longer considered taboo. In fact, it's become the "conventional wisdom."

But do not ever forget: That wasn't always the case. For several years, even mentioning the possibility of a lab leak or noting the unusual characteristics of the virus that made it seem unnatural could get you branded a conspiracy theorist, de-platformed, and deemed not fit for polite company.

We know that here at RedState all too well. RedState had some of the earliest reporting on the likely origins of COVID-19, on the gain-of-function research being conducted at WIV, on the troubling connections to and involvement of Daszak and Fauci. And what did we get for our trouble? A kick in the teeth. Demonetization. Demonization.

If I sound somewhat bitter, it's because I am. Even writing about it now, it's taking me back to that sick feeling we all had in the pits of our stomachs — not from fear of the virus itself, but from fear of losing this site and losing our livelihoods...simply for daring to question the "official" narrative.

To that end, I'd like to thank the readers who stuck with us through it all — who took the time to read our reporting on the issue and not dismiss it out of hand. Who supported us even while we were constrained and walking a whisper-thin tightrope between reporting on it honestly and thoroughly and not getting the rug yanked out from under us. We were forced to paywall articles we should have been able to run front page so that they could be shared far and wide. We couldn't have made it through that without you. What a difference a new presidency makes, eh? I know there are plenty of people who've largely moved on from COVID. These days, it's hard to focus on a singular news story for more than a week, much less years. But it's gratifying to see the White House put this out there in no uncertain terms. Even if those who were so quick to villainize those of us who were willing to question the official narrative will never acknowledge it. Even if many of those responsible for this travesty will never be held accountable this side of Eternity. We'll know — just as we knew then. This is vindication.
