So what are Democrats doing, now that they are out of power, that they don't have the White House, the House, or the Senate?
We've noted the dumb strategy of throwing out people like Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX), and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), who have a proclivity for making unhinged remarks.
Are the Democrats thinking about changing the same strategy that they've employed for ten years and that helped them lose in 2024: the "let's paint President Donald Trump as Hitler" strategy?
Nope. Not only aren't they changing it, but they're doubling down on it with another bad move: shadow hearings.
Remember when Walz said that they should employ a "shadow government" to confront Trump's moves?

Well, it looks like Democrats are going for that option. Um, guys? Maybe it's unwise to take the recommendations from the guy who lost so badly, Mr. Jazz Hands, the guy who keeps stepping on rakes?
On Monday, Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) and Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) actually held a "shadow hearing" -- even NPR was terming it that -- despite not having the power to call real hearings since they're not in the majority. There were no Republicans present. The hearing had all the validity of a Milli Vanilli knockoff.
Congressional Democrats have convened their first "shadow government" hearing.

Schiff claimed they were there to conduct "real oversight," but all they're doing is play-acting for their base while they're desperate and flailing. He claimed Republicans had abdicated their responsibility. No, the GOP is actually operating within the norms with real Congressional work, not performative theater like this. This is an effort to pretend that what they are doing has validity when it doesn't. As Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) termed it, these Democrats are "cosplaying" at being the majority when they aren't.
Of course, Schiff even slipped in the "Hitler reference," saying "history serves as a guide and as a warning," talking about how a "parallel system of government" was formed in Germany in the 1930s to "take over institutions that make a society free and vibrant."
Wait a second. Isn't it Trump and the Republicans who were elected by the people? Who is the one who is the "shadow" here? It isn't Trump. People voted for him. What they didn't vote for was for the Democrats to control the three branches. They voted for the Republicans in a sound rejection of the Democrats. Yet these Democrats are with their own actions trying to undercut the duly elected representative of the people with things like this. Can we talk about all the efforts to undercut/go after Trump for the past ten years?
It's also just dumb, since Trump is cutting government with DOGE -- it's hardly Hitlerian to cut your own power.
But that's the Democrats, standing reality on its head again; it doesn't have to make sense.
It doesn't sound like Trump is at all scared of their efforts. Indeed, he took a hilarious shot at Schiff earlier this week when he had the Los Angeles Dodgers at the White House to honor their World Series victory. He teased that he wasn't going to introduce California "senators" because he didn't like them. Schiff is one of the two CA senators.

That got a lot of laughs, including from the Dodgers. Trump admitted they weren't there and he was kidding.
But is it any wonder that he mocks Schiff, when Schiff promotes efforts like this?
