NEW: Poll Reveals Amazing Shift in Public Opinion About Direction of the Country Since Inauguration

President Donald Trump has been on a tear, since his inauguration on Jan. 20, to fix things and make good on his promises.

Democrats in response have been spinning, attacking, and lying about his actions.

So, how are the American people reacting to it all? Democrats aren't going to like this very much, because it looks like the American people are getting the reality and rejecting the spin, in a new Emerson poll that's pretty amazing.

First, it shows Trump has 49 percent approval, with a net approval across virtually all age groups.

“President Trump’s 49% job approval rating closely reflects his share of national support in the 2024 election, and his 41% disapproval is the lowest it has been in Emerson national polls dating back to his first term,” Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College Polling, said. “All age groups have a net approval of Trump, including voters under 30 (46%-38%), except those over 70, who narrowly disapprove (49%-48%).”

But even more amazing was the response to a question in the same poll about whether the country is now on the right track. They had numbers from earlier in January -- before Trump was inaugurated -- that had 67 percent saying it was on the wrong track, and only 33 percent thought it was on the right track.

But now -- with Trump in office -- there was a 19-point shift, to a majority of Americans -- 52 percent -- thinking the country is now on the right track, with 48 percent saying it's on the wrong track. That's a huge and significant shift, and it's an indication they're embracing/approving Trump's actions, that they believe good things are happening and are going to happen.

Oh, and what are people thinking about the Democrats? We reported on it, and it's not looking good.

According to a Quinnipiac poll, 57 percent of registered voters have an unfavorable opinion about Democrats. Only 31 percent are favorable. That's the worst for the Democrats since Quinnipiac started asking the question in 2008. Meanwhile, according to Axios, they didn't ask this question about the unfavorability of Democrats between August 2019 and January 2025. That says so much right there. Gee, I wonder why that would be?

Forty-three percent have a favorable opinion of the Republicans versus the 31 percent favorability for the Democrats, also the largest favorability gap favoring the Republicans since 2008. And 58 percent of Democrats or independents leaning Democrat think the party needs "major changes or to be completely reformed."

So, the Democrats can take that to heart and try to reform. Or they can do what they are doing now -- continuing to scream about Trump.  But the American people are giving them a big message, whether they're listening or not. It's also a big message to Trump and the Republicans to keep working to make the changes that the American people want.
