The routine from many on the left that former President Donald Trump -- heck, every Republican presidential candidate -- is somehow "Hitler" is absurd performance outrage. And speaking of absurd performance outrage, that leads me to actor Robert De Niro. He did that Trump Derangement thing again, this time on "MSNBC’s "11th Hour with Stephanie Ruhle," prompted by her questions.

“You know, as a kid, I’d say Hitler, it’s a nightmare, that never would happen. But now I see that it’s possible,” he said, comparing Trump to the Nazis and der Führer. "I don’t understand it. I don’t, I don’t think they understand how dangerous it will be if he ever, God forbid, becomes president. I don’t think they really understand," he declared.
I truly think he might have fallen for the cult-speak. But it's still absurd and it's diminishing of the true horrors that people had to go through under Adolf Hitler.

Now, I don't know who would vote for president based on what an actor says or who would take anything De Niro says seriously. He may have had success as an actor but he's just clueless about reality when it comes to politics and what has been going on in the world over the past several years. He also doesn't really have to deal with all the harmful consequences that Biden has visited on the rest of us like Bidenflation and high interest rates.
X owner Elon Musk sprang to the defense of Trump and gave De Niro a schooling. He made a very basic point: we already know what it's like to have Trump as president.
Well, Trump was actually already president for 4 years and his policies bore no resemblance to those of Hitler, so this makes no sense.

In fact, with the Abraham Accords, he made some progress towards peace in the Middle East, which was definitely not high on Hitler’s agenda.

That's talking facts and logic, two things that De Niro desperately needs.
Trump brought more peace, but Biden has just brought chaos both here and in the Middle East because his weakness has emboldened bad actors.
But it shows Musk, who used to be a Democrat, is far down the road in the other direction when he's defending Trump. Or more exactly, as he says, the progressives like De Niro have moved so far to the left they are now in bizarro-land. I don't think it will be at all surprising if Elon votes for Trump, based on his comments, because he sees how much the left has been destroying everything. While he has a platform and we can see his evolution, I think he's a sample of how others may be going as well.
They look at all this, they know it wasn't chaotic like this under Trump, despite the leftist narrative, and that's one of the reasons why independents seem to be going to Trump. If you want to talk about antisemitism and threats to Jews, which we see massively increasing on the left now under Biden. He seems completely unclear on how to deal with it, because he doesn't want to anger his leftist base.
Elon is talking sense, while the left is just sadly unhinged.
