Have you wondered why Joe Biden took an Orwellian flip and was suddenly talking about the "border crisis" — something he and his administration have denied was a crisis for the past three years? And why he's suddenly trying to blame the Republicans, who have been calling for action on the crisis all of that time?

Yes, it's because of the election, but it's also because the polls in the swing states show him getting crushed by former President Donald Trump — and specifically show him being crushed on that particular issue.
Check out this polling; it's got to be shaking the Biden people up.

Here’s the polling trend in each state since October pic.twitter.com/Qk9a3fyUai
Not only is he now up in all seven swing states, he's up by some big numbers in some of those states. Trump is up by eight in Nevada and 10 in North Carolina. Even stunningly up five in Michigan and eight in Georgia.
That's North Carolina: Trump +10, Nevada: Trump +8, Georgia: Trump +8, Wisconsin: Trump +5, Michigan: Trump +5, Pennsylvania: Trump +3, and Arizona: Trump +3.
Collectively, that poll has Biden down six points, 48 - 42 percent, and that's consistent now with other polls. They also prefer Trump, 51 to 33 percent, on the economy, which is still the single most important issue.
The percentage of voters who said immigration was the "single most important issue" to them in November went up in six of the seven swing states polled in a new Bloomberg News/Morning Consult survey.
- 61% of those voters in those states say Biden is at least somewhat responsible for the wave of migration on the U.S.-Mexico border.
- On the same question, 30% blamed the Trump administration and 38% blamed congressional Republicans.
- Voters in those states say they trust Trump over Biden on immigration 52% to 30%. The 22 percentage point margin is up five points since the last poll in December.
That's why Biden has suddenly changed — he's seeing how important this issue is to the voters, and that's all he cares about: holding onto power. Now, he has to recast how he broke the system.
The poll also had another intriguing number: the number when it comes to independents. Now, there was a point that Nikki Haley's team was pushing in the wake of New Hampshire — that independents would break more to her than Trump because she appealed to independents in that state. But people questioned whether you could apply New Hampshire to other states or to the general election, given the question of Democrats voting as undeclared there.
Another Morning Consult poll speaks to that question, showing Trump up with independents over Biden by 12 points, with Trump at 42 percent and Biden at 30 percent.
In the words of Biden's Democratic challenger, Rep. Dean Phillips (D-MN), there just might be a problem here for Biden.
