I wrote earlier about how Joe Biden ducked questions when it came to his son's statement on Wednesday and how he defied the congressional subpoena. That was probably a foregone conclusion.
Biden Tries to Duck Questions on Hunter's Statement, but KJP Gives Him Up and Shows His Hypocrisy
But then White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre admitted that he was "familiar" with the statement made by his son, which prompted questions about his involvement and if he had advised him not to testify. If he had, that could raise questions about trying to obstruct the investigation.
Reporters also pressed her about his prior comments on the question of defying subpoenas but she didn't want to go there.
But hey, we'll go there and show you exactly what he said. He was asked in October 2021 about people who defied the subpoenas of the Jan. 6 Committee: what should be done?
FLASHBACK to October 2021:

Reporter: “Mr. President, what’s your message to people who defy Congressional subpoenas… Should they be prosecuted by the Justice Department?”
Joe Biden: “Yes”pic.twitter.com/dAG8mMyacr
"I hope the Committee goes after them and uh, holds them accountable," Biden replied.
"Do you think they should be prosecuted by the Justice Department," CNN's Kaitlan Collins asked him.
"I do, yes," Biden responded.
If we took him at his word, that would mean his son should now be prosecuted.
In addition, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) told CNN that Biden said "that the committee should aggressively enforce our right to get people’s testimony and to get the documents we’ve subpoenaed, and there’s no problem with that.”
But it's Joe Biden, you can never take him at his word.
Now when it comes to his son and frankly, testimony that could impact him and possible impeachment, suddenly Biden is silent, refusing to answer. He was perfectly willing to shoot his mouth off before. But now, not so much. He's not saying it was wrong for his son to defy the House Oversight Committee. He's not saying that his son should be prosecuted for this. Because of course not, he's protected by the "magical D" -- how dare anyone even question Hunter or Joe Biden on this matter?
I doubt that he'll even bother to present some kind of justification for the variance in his takes here, like the "Republicans are mean so we can do anything" defense.
Bottom line? He's a hypocrite.

Hunter Biden announced that he will defy the House Oversight Committee subpoena. When will DOJ prosecute? Asking for a friend - friends who the DOJ prosecuted for the same thing. https://t.co/R0zZOMuRYX
