Democrat Midterm Strategy and Trump Derangement Syndrome: Bring Back Our Illegal Aliens

Remember the #BringBackOurGirls campaign during the Obama Administration? Well, Democrats have now moved on to #BringBackOurIllegalAliens. If you had Democrats supporting an illegal alien gang member on your 2025 bingo card, go buy a lotto ticket, today—don’t wait. I’m serious. Democrats in Congress have officially lost it. It looks like their new 2026 midterm strategy is to fight in support of properly deported illegal aliens. I’m excited to see how this will play out.

I’m going to state the situation surrounding the deportation of Kilmar Garcia as clearly as I can. An illegal alien with ties to El Salvador gangs has been deported. He was in the United States illegally. He was given deportation orders, which he ignored. The Trump administration deported him. Democrats with full-on TDS are furious about it. Maryland Senator Chris Van Hollen is traveling to El Salvador, to, in his own words: “… meet with senior government officials to discuss the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia. I also hope to see Kilmar and check on his condition — and remind him that we won’t stop fighting until he’s home.”

To check on his condition? To bring him home? Chris, he is home. What on God’s green earth are you doing? There is no world where Kilmar Garcia is a U.S. citizen with rights as an American.

If you're a Democrat, ask yourself honestly: Is this the hill you want to die on? Retrieving men with ties to dangerous foreign gangs in order to bring them back to the country? Also, is Van Hollen paying for this flight to El Salvador himself? Of course not. Taxpayer dollars are paying for this clown show.

I just don’t understand what the end goal here is for Democrats. Are they hoping to stand in front of constituents during the midterms and brag about how they fought to bring back illegal aliens who were already rightfully deported? How is that going to go over?

Van Hollen is not the only one pushing for Garcia’s retrieval, as my RedState colleagues Bonchie and Terri Christoph have already written about.

Axios has reported that Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey is also planning to “lead a trip” to El Salvador. I don’t see Booker or Val Hollen being on the top of the 2028 presidential ticket for Democrats, but they’re certainly getting attention.

The problem for Democrats? This is a clown show. It’s completely unserious. I’ve complained about things Democrat leaders have done in the past, like former President Obama’s targeting of conservative groups through the IRS. Certainly, their never-ending battle to allow men to play in women’s sports or trans story time at public libraries. They have Supreme Court Justices who can’t define what a woman is. But I did not have retrieving properly deported illegal aliens as an issue that Democrats would be so passionate about in 2025.

Rep. Tom Emmer roasted Sen. Van Hollen in the best way on X, stating:

“Sen. Van Hollen is fighting harder to get a MS-13 gang member back onto the streets of Maryland than he ever fought to secure the wide-open border that allowed in the killer of his *actual* constituent, Rachel Morin. This tells you all you need to know about Democrat priorities.”

I’m not in the business of helping Democrats, but if I were advising their midterm strategy, this would not be the path I would take. However, as a conservative, I look forward to the town hall clips where they are forced to answer for this insanity.
