Journalist Andy Ngo has been investigating and calling out Antifa for many years. Because of it, he's come under all kinds of attack from them. Most notably, he was beaten by Antifa actors in Portland, Oregon, in June 2019, in the "milkshake" incident. They threw projectiles at him and hit him with plywood hard-edged sign placards and carbon-hardened tactical gloves. He was severely injured and suffered a brain injury.
This video shows part of the attack, where he was being hit and assailed with projectiles.
BREAKING: Today begins the trial of @MrAndyNgo vs. Rose City Antifa, et al.
β The Post Millennial (@TPostMillennial) July 31, 2023
Ngo is seeking nearly $1 million in damages from alleged Antifa violence, which began in 2019 in Portland, Oregon.
The trial is expected to last at minimum 5 days. Reporting by @KatieDaviscourt 𧡠pic.twitter.com/OyKq6qdLfZ
Now he's finally gotten a notable win in that 2019 incident.
One of his attorneys, Harmeet Dhillon, who was representing him via the Center for American Liberty, announced the win. She said they'd reached a settlement with one defendant and gotten default judgments against three others, although two "escaped justice." As we previously reported, two were found not liable in a wild trial where the defense attorney told the jury she was Antifa and would "remember" their faces. But now Ngo and his team are celebrating the win against the others.
Some good news. Four years after I met and started working with @MrAndyNgo, & his becoming the first client of @Liberty_Ctr, we achieved a settlement with one Antifa defendant, default judgments of $300,000 against three others today, while two escaped justice. Now, to collect! https://t.co/tqgAyMQSLH

BREAKING: At a hearing today regarding three defaulted Antifa defendants in my Ngo v. Rose City Antifa, et al. lawsuit, the court heard evidence about the brutal June 29, 2019 beating I suffered at a Rose City Antifa event where I was seriously injured. The court rendered an award for Ngo against the three defendants who were in default of $300,000βto be split equally among the three defendants, Corbyn "Katherine" Belyea, Madison "Denny" Lee Allen, and Sammich Overkill Schott-Deputy. (formerly Joseph Evans).
Ngo called it a "vindication" for what they did to him. He acknowledged that it might be a challenge to get the money from the three because of their "history of evasion." He thanked the Center for American Liberty and his attorneys, including his lead attorney, Dorothy Yamamoto, for helping to hold them accountable for trying to "violently silence" his "First Amendment rights." He said that he would continue to hold Antifa accountable for their violent actions.
It's been a challenge holding Antifa accountable, particularly in a place like very liberal Portland, Oregon. It seems like they don't suffer much punishment for all the things that they have done. Cases often seemed to be dismissed or not even pursued by liberal prosecutors, regardless of the evidence against the Antifa actors. And that just emboldened Antifa into thinking that they could get away with things.
By this action, Ngo has shown Antifa that they can't get away with everything β that at least in a court of law, they will be held accountable, whether or not he can collect from them. He beat them, and they can't get around that. That will infuriate them perhaps even more than the monetary award. Now they will have to think twice about consequences, even in very liberal Portland.
