'Mostly Peaceful' Again: CNN Guest Claims Atlanta Antifa Riot Wasn't 'Violent'

As I reported on Saturday, things got spicy in Atlanta with Antifa attacking the Atlanta Police Foundation, police cars, and some other businesses.

Local media had a big fail when one station called it a “largely peaceful protest” in a throwback to the way CNN and MSNBC used to excuse the BLM/Antifa riots in 2020. But then, while the reporter correctly noted that the riot was because of the killing of Manuel Teran, the reporter failed to note that Teran was shot by the police in self-defense when Teran without warning allegedly fired on them and shot a cop.

But CNN seemingly didn’t want to be left out when it comes to the idiotic takes. They had on a “freelance journalist” David Peisner who claimed that Antifa attacking the Atlanta Police Foundation and other businesses, as well as using “explosives” to set a police car on fire wasn’t “violence,” but the police arresting them for their attacks is.

“I think that there’s a real blurring of the lines in the use of the word violence. Is property destruction violence? To some people it certainly is. But, you know, this idea that breaking windows or other acts of property destruction are the same as actual violence against humans, it’s kind of a dangerous and slippery concept,’” he told CNN’s Pamela Brown Saturday on “CNN Newsroom.”

“You keep using these words ‘violent, violent, violent, violent,” Peisner said. “The only violence, the only acts of violence against people that I saw were actually police tackling protesters.” He also downplayed the rioting, calling it a “small group” and failing to note the threats that various leftist Twitter accounts had made against the police.

Pamela Brown didn’t call out what Peisner said as utter nonsense.

They shouldn’t have been surprised by that given what he has been posting about the situation over the past few days. He was full of praise for Teran, even retweeting a post from the “Defend the Forest” Twitter account that claimed Teran had been “murdered” by the police. Journalist Andy Ngo questioned why they had him on, given those facts.

Indeed, given the way CNN has acted in the past, Peisner’s posts are likely why they invited him on. What a way to try to spin rioting. Looks like CNN needs more work on pivoting away from the leftist operation it has been.

But this isn’t just Peisner’s crazy take — this is the leftist take in general. The radical left doesn’t believe that actions against property are “violence.” That’s how you get to this crazy take of the “peaceful” riot.

They also believe since they think they are “defending the forest,” it’s the cops who are in the wrong who came to remove them from property they didn’t own. So anything else that happens after that is all on the cops, not them. They’re also conveniently just skipping over the fact that their guy allegedly shot a cop.

Six people were arrested after the violence that Peisner denied was violence.
