We’ve written about the censorship by Big Tech in the past.

But it’s more than beyond the pale when they shut down the Instagram account of grieving Gold Star mother, Shana Chappell, the mother of Marine Lance Corporal Kareem Nikoui, one of the 13 members of the military killed in the Kabul Airport terrorist bombing.

It’s fair to say that she didn’t hold back in criticizing Joe Biden, saying that it was he was more concerned about talking about his own story than her son in their meeting in Dover. She spoke about protesting him at the White House until he resigned after she buried her son and she encouraged people to join her when she did so. She said her son’s blood was on Biden’s hands. Needless to say, she had every right to say everything that she did and should have been allowed to say it unhindered.

Chappell posted on Facebook that her Instagram account had been disabled, “As soon as i posted about what happened to my son Instagram started pulling up my posts from months ago and sending me notifications that if i kept posting stuff like that they would disable my account! Posts from months ago!!!!”

After there was an outcry and people started asking Instagram for an explanation for what they had done, they suddenly went into backtrack mode.

Instagram claimed it was a “mistake” and said they would be restoring her account, something that seems to be the frequent excuse when folks on the right are suppressed. Funny, though, how the mistake always seems to be on the one side.

“We express our deepest condolences to Ms. Chappell and her family,” said the Instagram spokeswoman, according to Breitbart. “Her tribute to her heroic son does not violate any of our policies. While the post was not removed, her account was incorrectly deleted and we have since restored it.”

So, fortunately, now her account is back up. But she should have never have had it taken down, to begin with, especially at such a time after her son was killed and she’s trying to process it all by posting about him on their site and receiving condolences. How does such an account come to be “accidentally deleted?” Particularly at this time? Instagram needs a much better explanation than they have given so far, because this isn’t cutting it. The media is so concerned about “fact-checking,” maybe they want to “fact-check” how this stuff keeps happening and their lame explanation.
