With Christmas quickly approaching, the presents are wrapped, families and friends across America look forward to holiday gatherings, and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) serves up another hateful holiday message to her “Insta” groupies about the evils of Christianity. Make that pro-life Christians.

Incidentally, it’s troubling that we’ve reached a point where “pro-life Christian” is no longer redundant.

Anyway, the erstwhile bartender, who seemingly believes the singular purpose of her House seat is to spew nonsensical left-wing crap on Twitter and preach to her Instagram faithful about the evils of conservatism, on Wednesday went off on a silly mini-rant about the horrors associated with Christians who believe the killing of healthy unborn children is wrong and immoral.

Oh, but you’re harming a life. Well, some religions don’t. So how about that? Our Jewish brothers and sisters — they are able to have an abortion according to their faith. You know, there are so many faiths that do not have the same definition of ‘life’ as fundamentalist Christians. And so we — how — what about their rights? What about their right to exercise their faith? It’s ridiculous. And it is theocratic. It’s also authoritarian, and it is wrong.

Let’s begin with AOC’s claim that “our Jewish brothers and sisters are able to have an abortion, according to their faith,” and compare it with facts. According to the Jerusalem Post, the three main denominations of Judaism – Orthodox, Conservative, and Reform – hold “vastly different opinions on abortion.”

Orthodox Judaism holds the strictest view on abortion and is the only denomination to not conclusively believe that a fetus is not a human life. Therefore, while some Orthodox rabbis will allow abortion when a mother’s health is in danger, even if her life is not, among other reasons, others will take a stricter approach. Nevertheless, all Orthodox leaders agree that the mother’s life must be saved over the fetus if it comes down to that.

The Conservative movement is more lenient, explicitly stating that if a woman’s mental health is impacted negatively by pregnancy, this counts as a risk to her life and she is permitted to undergo an abortion.

The Reform movement interprets the principle of pikuach nefesh more widely still, including pregnancy as a result of incest or rape under the reasons one can undergo an abortion, as well as if a fetus is determined to have severe developmental defects.

I chose to go into a bit of depth about Judaism’s various views on abortion to provide an example of how Democrats make broad statements that might be partially true, in some cases, yet they purposely avoid “the rest of the story” that doesn’t support their various claims and overall narratives.

Secondly, AOC sounded as if she were an advocate of religious rights — other than the rights of Christians, of course — which couldn’t be further from the truth. Here’s what she said about faith in a 2020 tweet:

So, what? Never mind that AOC exactly used faith in a bizarre attempt to defend on-demand abortion. Sorry, Sandy Cortez; we’re not buying it any more than we bought “very Catholic” Nancy Pelosi defending late-term abortion as “sacred ground,” or “devout Catholic” Joe Biden describing on-demand abortion as an “essential healthcare service.”

The Bottom Line

What is theocratic, authoritarian, and wrong, AOC, is you and your party attempting to use the federal government to deny the rights of American citizens — including Christians — to determine abortion laws at the state level, through elected state officials.

But, AOC? You did catch the news about the U.S. Supreme Court correctly overturning Roe v. Wade, right?
