In yet another example of the craziness that is 2020, a grandmother dubbed “Zoom Karen” recently interrupted her granddaughter’s virtual class to blast Black Lives Matter and Barack Obama. Before it was over, her granddaughter screamed: “I’m over it — just shut the f**k up!”
Zoom video of the incident went viral on TikTok after it was uploaded by user “stayflyest,” who labeled it “Karen found in Zoom class going off.” The video has since been viewed roughly two million times.
As reported by the New York Post, the grandmother “barged into what looks like a middle school Zoom class, wagging her finger at the screen as the teacher discussed Black Lives Matter with the children.”
The short video — TikTok videos run a maximum of 60 seconds — begins with the teacher explaining “All we’re talking about are historical events,” in response to “Zoom Karen,” as the kids appear shocked by the interruption.
The feisty grandma fires back:
“No, you’re talking about BLM and all that stuff. And we’re not going to talk about it. Unless you want to hear what I have to say.”
During her short diatribe, “Zoom Karen” took a random shot at former President Barack Obama: “And Barack Obama was biracial. He wasn’t just black. He should have owned both sides of his family.”

The teacher, no doubt concerned about her students, tried to calm the incensed woman down.
“Ma’am… Ma’am… we’re reading a story about a historical event and the question was presented to the students as ‘what’s the most important historical event that’s happened in your lifetime?’”
“Well how did BLM show up?”, the grandma demanded to know. “Your granddaughter brought it up,” the teacher answered. Oops.
In a second TikTok post, the granddaughter screams: “I’m over it — just shut the f**k up!”

The teacher, who had remained calm throughout the entire incident, responded: “Zip it! Everything is being recorded, so you really don’t want to mess up, here.”
[Fade to black.] No pun intended.
No word if “Zoom Karen” demanded to talk to the teacher’s manager.

In the classic 1976 black-comedy film — not to be confused with Black Americans — “Network“, a fictional network anchor finally loses it, screaming “I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take this anymore!”
Perhaps the tables have been turned in the craziness that is 2020. Maybe “Zoom Karen,” the CNN hecklers, and untold numbers of the rest of us are mad as hell and not going to take “this” anymore.
