Two NBA stars go in different directions in contract talks, and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell wants to move to a “streaming service.” Let’s start with the NBA news.

NBA Roundup: 

Philadelphia 76ers star guard James Harden signed a two-year deal to remain with the Sixers, but he took a $15 million pay cut to help improve the team’s roster. Harden is hungry for a championship, and this is a big step forward in constructing a championship roster.

Portland Trail Blazers star guard Damian Lillard signed a two-year, approximately $122 million contract extension with the team.

ESPN’s Zach Lowe spoke about the Kyrie-to-Lakers trade talks:

“[The Lakers] have LeBron and AD, guess what? That’s not enough to win the championship … you need Kyrie Irving … and Kyrie Irving, if you don’t get traded to the Lakers … you can sit at home just like you did for almost all of last season.”

Free-agent Frank Kaminsky agreed to a one-year deal with the Atlanta Hawks.

The New York Knicks released veteran Taj Gibson, and he will sign with the Washington Wizards once he clears waivers.

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban spoke about Jalen Brunson choosing the Knicks over the Mavs:

“It really wasn’t about the money. We really didn’t get a chance to make an offer. It was Jalen’s choice … and I understand it.”

NFL Roundup:

The Miami Dolphins have not engaged in contract talks with tight end Mike Gesicki. He will likely play on the franchise tag in 2022.

The Dallas Cowboys and tight end Dalton Schultz will “make another run” at a long-term contract extension.

It seems unlikely that the Cincinnati Bengals and safety Jessie Bates will agree on a long-term deal before next week’s deadline.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell spoke about a “streaming service” in his interview with CNBC.

Retired Arizona Cardinals legend wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald still believes in quarterback Kyler Murray.
