In Marx's Crosshairs: The Left-Wing Nation Targets WalMart, Tries To Tie Retailer To Mass Murders

Apparently, the WalMart haters on the Left (namely, unions, #Occupy’s useful idiots, and just about every other Marxist fringe group you can think of) have become so desperate in their demonization of the capitalist success story that they’re now trying to pin the Sandy Hook shootings that killed nearly 30 people on the nation’s largest (non-union) retailer.

It was bad enough to see the institutional Left (and its media allies)–as they usually do–immediately blame guns for the actions of a psychopath. However, for the Marxist writers at The Nation try to tie WalMart’s selling of “assault rifles” takes the Left’s Alinsky-esque tactics to new lows.

In a piece entitled “Five Assault Rifles You Can Pick up at Walmart,” The Nation’s writers Francis Reynolds and George Zornick sort of imply that Connecticut madman Adam Lanza may have gotten the weapons he used at his local WalMart store…or maybe he didn’t.

When Adam Lanza entered Sandy Hook Elementary School on Friday, inexplicably bent on ending as many lives as possible, he was carrying a Bushmaster AR-15 assault rifle and several high-capacity magazines. Although it is not clear yet where the AR-15 used by Lanza (which was registered to his mother) was purchased, the model is familiar to many shoppers at Walmart. [Emphasis added.]

The Nation also assails WalMart in a separate piece entitled: How Walmart Helped Make Newtown Shooter’s AR-15 the Most Popular Assault Weapon in America

Given the Left’s recent attacks on WalMart (including the Black Friday “strike”), in this latter piece, The Nation gives a glimmer of its agenda by quoting former ACORN CEO Bertha Lewis, who now heads the Black Institute:

“This gun thing, it’s really just a nightmare,” says Bertha Lewis, president of the Black Institute, which has been organizing Walmart workers this year to protest wages and working conditions. Given its aggressive gun sales, Walmart’s logo “shouldn’t be a smiley face; it should be an automatic weapon,” she adds. [Emphasis added.]

While The Nation uses WalMart as its anti-gun piñata in both articles—even invoking the Aurora, Colorado theater movie shooting—it does not explicitly claim that any mass murderers actually obtained their guns from WalMart. Rather, The Nation’s writers merely imply that the retailer is responsible for the deaths committed by mass murderers.

Nowhere, however, does The Nation’s writers mention Fast and Furious and the murder weapons supplied to Mexican cartels by Eric Holder & Co. The Nation also conveniently ignores the Fort Hood massacre and fails at having any discussion on the fact that sometimes lunatics snap and do horrific things.

Instead, The Nation found a convenient way to spew its anti-gun diatribe against a successful union-free corporation that it has long targeted.
