After President Joe Biden announced that he was dropping his reelection bid but will finish his term, top Republican leaders are calling for him to resign the presidency immediately.
In the hours before Biden made the announcement, Republican VP nominee JD Vance said that if Biden ended his reelection campaign, that's an admission that Donald Trump was right all along about Biden's mental fitness, and that Biden isn't mentally fit enough to serve as Commander-in-Chief until January.
If Joe Biden ends his reelection campaign, how can he justify remaining President?

Not running for reelection would be a clear admission that President Trump was right all along about Biden not being mentally fit enough to serve as Commander-in-Chief.
There is no middle ground.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) joined that call, issuing a statement shortly after Biden announced that he was dropping his reelection bid:
“If Joe Biden is not fit to run for President, he is not fit to serve as President. He must resign the office immediately. November 5 cannot arrive soon enough.”
And, Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) added his voice:
Then RESIGN your office. If you can’t run a mere political campaign, you can’t be President https://t.co/wbO9fs0TyN
