There isn’t much you can say about the Democratic Jan. 6 hearings that hasn’t already been said about Chris Cuomo’s career. To put it simply, it has been a complete and utter failure and it is not going to yield any political fruit for the Democratic Party, which has been milking the riot at the U.S. Capitol since five minutes after it started.
The findings of a recent poll showed that opinions on Jan. 6 and former President Donald Trump remain the same after the airing of the hearings as they were before. In essence, nobody has changed their mind on the matter despite the millions of taxpayer dollars Democrats poured into the politically-motivated endeavor.
Monmouth conducted a survey analyzing opinions on the riot and Trump’s supposed role in inciting the violence. The polling began in late June, just before Cassidy Hutchinson’s dramatic testimony in which she claimed Trump went full Jean Claude Van Damme on Secret Service agents because he wished to go to the Capitol building on Jan. 6.

Currently, 38% of the public thinks Trump is directly responsible for what happened on Jan. 6th. In late June, right before Cassidy Hutchinson’s appearance with the House committee, a similar 42% said Trump is directly responsible. Another 26% say Trump is not directly responsible but he encouraged those involved and 32% say Trump did nothing wrong regarding Jan. 6th. Those results were 25% and 30%, respectively, in June. Just 5% of Republicans say Trump is directly responsible and 23% say he encouraged those involved.
This is not good news for the Democrats.
As my colleague, Nick Arama, pointed out, “[t]he Democrats don’t have too many options left to try to sway the midterms.”
Jan. 6 was one of the Democrats’ primary weapons to use against Trump and Republicans. Now, they seem to be banking on what the FBI turned up in their raid on the former president’s home.
But it should be no surprise that the Jan. 6 hearings are not changing minds. One of the main reasons is because most Americans – including Democrats – can see that it is clearly a politically-motivated effort to damage Trump, not a sincere effort to get to the bottom of what happened at the Capitol building on that day. I discussed the matter on my podcast recently.
The I&I/TIPP survey asked respondents whether they agreed with these two statements:
“Some say that the Jan. 6 committee was handpicked and represents only Democrats’ points of view.”
“Some say that the Jan. 6 committee’s main aim is to ensure President Trump can’t run in 2024.”
46 percent of respondents, including 44 percent of Democrats, agreed with the first statement while only 35 percent disagreed.
On the second statement, 60 percent, including 62 percent of Democrats, agreed that the primary objective of the committee is to keep Trump from seeking office again.
Since people understand that the hearings’ sole purpose is to attack Trump and Republicans, it seems sensible to conclude that they do not view the committee as credible – even if they detest the former president. This shows that this whole circus was a gargantuan waste of time and money. Even with all the production value and sensational testimony, Democrats have failed to change people’s minds on the Jan. 6 riot.
The Monmouth poll demonstrates that the left simply is not as adept at perpetuating deceptive narratives as usual. Perhaps it is because so much of the population is not trusting them as they used to. Confidence in the activist media is at extreme lows. Democrats better hope the Bureau found something damning in that raid. Otherwise, their fate is sealed come November.
