The debate over vaccine mandates has been raging for months, as Democrats insist on pushing measures designed to force civilians to get the vax. In places like New York City, Democratic officials are requiring private businesses to require proof of vaccination before allowing customers to enter their premises. In October, California became the first state to require vaccinations for its students.

The White House earlier this year issued a measure requiring businesses with 100 or more employees to require their workers to take the jab or be subject to weekly COVID testing. The Federalist explained:

All of the Democrat’s civilian vaccine mandates have been stalled in federal courts and are not to be enforced until further legal proceedings, but that hasn’t stopped the Biden administration from encouraging businesses to keep forcing the COVID jab on its employees.

In addition to completely disregarding concerns about personal freedom in a world with rising COVID-induced tyranny, Biden’s comments also indicate that he still believes people who have had the shot can’t spread the virus. This directly contradicts the data, which suggests that “people who get vaccine breakthrough infections can be contagious.”

The author also noted that “breakthrough infections are on the rise in the United States as COVID variants blow through communities.”

Biden’s comments are revealing in that the left loves to pay lip service to the idea of freedom while in reality, they are willing to sacrifice that freedom if it means the state can become more intrusive in people’s lives. To people like the president, freedom is an okay idea, but it’s not a “big deal” if the government says it must force us to obey for our own good.

Apparently, the president believes his cavalier attitude towards the concerns of those who value freedom won’t hurt Democrats in the upcoming midterm elections. During the Democratic National Committee’s holiday party, Biden issued a bizarre, rambling threat to Republicans. “I wanna tell my Republican friends: Get ready pal! You’re gonna in for a problem!” he intoned.

Several Democratic politicians have taken the same approach. Casting the idea of choice as something that is less important than forcing Americans to take actions that will not slow the spread of the coronavirus. To them, the idea that individuals should make important health decisions on their own is anathema; authoritarian types believe the elites are in a better position to make our choices for us.

This characteristic of the hard left also shows up in the behavior of their most prominent leaders. While they tell us it’s not a big deal to be forced to constantly wear masks, which produce questionable results, and to take vaccines, many of these individuals have frequently refused to follow their own mandates.

Over the past year, there has been a slew of stories in which Democratic politicians are caught not wearing masks. Indeed, the president himself has been caught flouting his own rules when not on camera.

Austin Mayor Steve Adler came under fire when he posted a video in which he urged the city’s residents to refrain from traveling. The problem? He filmed the video from his condo in Mexico.

San Francisco Mayor London Breed was also caught dancing maskless at a club during a concert. She later excused her actions by noting that she was “feeling the spirit” while watching R&B group Tony! Tony! Toné! perform.

Of course, we cannot forget California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s infamous French Laundry scandal, right?

The bottom line is that these people don’t value the idea of freedom – it means very little to them. Once they see an opportunity to make the state bigger and the citizen smaller, they will jump on it like a starving pit bull on a 16oz steak, freedom be damned.
