They violate their own COVID rules. They decry the evils of capitalism while using free markets to further their causes. They push for less policing while ensuring they have private security. They insist on using private jets while telling us we’re all going to die from climate change. And in this latest act of hypocrisy, Rep. Ayanna Pressley revealed that she believes only other landlords should eliminate rent.
RedState’s Brandon Morse wrote about how Pressley has been “the foremost advocate of canceling rent during the pandemic.” The lawmaker has been pushing for extending eviction moratoriums and “keeping families housed.”
But, as Morse pointed out, Pressley might not be as big a believer in canceling rent as she would have us believe. As it turns out, the lawmaker’s financial disclosure revealed she and her husband received between $5,000 and $15,000 in rental income in 2020 at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
There seems to be no limit to the level of hypocrisy to which these authoritarian socialist types will descend. These individuals will get on their pedestals to lecture the rest of us about how horrible we are for not supporting their Marxist ideas while contradicting themselves with their behavior when they think the plebes aren’t paying attention.
They would have you think that their motto is “workers of the world unite” when, in reality, it is closer to “good for me, but not for thee.”
Still, this is not to say that the AOCs and Pressleys of the world do not believe in the ideas they espouse – they most certainly do. The issue is that they believe their policy proposals should apply only to other people. In other words, Pressley believes that other landlords should eliminate rent – but not herself.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom believes the unwashed masses in his state should be wearing masks and social distancing. But he has shown that he does not think his mandates should apply to himself or his friends and family.
Sen. Bernie Sanders hated millionaires until he became one. Now he’s enjoying his three houses and newfound wealth from his book sales.
I don’t need to go into how Marxist authoritarians like Josef Stalin, Mao Zedong, and Kim Jong Il lived lives of luxury while making sure their people were suffering in squalor, do I?
The question is: Why do these people so brazenly display their hypocrisy while schoolmarming the rest of the population about how they need to fall in line?
It is because they think they are better than you.
These people believe they are superior to the rest of us in every way. Since we don’t have the level of intelligence or moral fortitude as they, we don’t get to preach about working towards a socialist utopia while embracing the freedoms afforded by the system under which we currently live.
Make no mistake, if the leftist elite gets their way, the rest of the nation will be living equally destitute lives while they live high on the hog. These people want equality for everyone except themselves because they do not see themselves as our equals.
The true test of whether someone believes the words they say is in their actions. Their behavior will always betray their actual beliefs. It is for this reason that author Dale Carnegie said:
Pay less attention to what men say. Just watch what they do.
Understanding what is truly in someone’s heart requires focusing more on their conduct and less on their words. Realizing this is essential to navigating the world of politics today, especially when it comes to the far-left socialist crowd, which is still trying to win influence over the Democratic Party and American society.
Hypocrisy exists in every facet of politics. It is unavoidable. However, it can be hazardous when it comes to those who wish to expand the role of government in everyday life. The skyrocketing homicide rates that have occurred partly due to the Democrats’ focus on defunding police departments illustrate this truth.
Dealing with these issues requires constantly exposing the fact that far-left so-called progressives don’t honestly believe their strictures should apply to them. This is one of several reasons why they are having difficulty gaining influence with key demographics. At the end of the day, it takes more than just articulating ideas to persuade people. One must also show that they genuinely believe them. So far, the socialist crowd seems to think they can get away with doing the opposite.
