Democrats Claim They're on the Comeback Trail, but Reality Just Punched Them in the Face

When a political party loses a major election, post-mortems quickly turn into doubling down, and the Democratic Party has traveled that predictable path in record time since getting gut-punched in November.

For about a week following the election of now-President Donald Trump, there were some rumblings that a course correction might take place. A few Democrats even spoke openly about backing away from transgender ideology and attempting to reconnect with the working class. That was never going to happen, though, and sure enough, the party's members are back to being the lunatics we know all too well.

In fact, some are even feeling oddly confident in going right back to the same behavior that led to their embarrassing defeat. On Wednesday, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) went so far as to claim that "President Trump and his minions are feeling the heat."

For context, Trump is currently enjoying one of the most successful, victory-filled first months as president in history. Schumer insinuating that Democrats are on the comeback trail is a bit like Jim Acosta claiming his career is on the upswing. It's a level of unearned self-confidence bordering on derangement.

For giggles, though, let's ask the question. Are Democrats seeing a political resurgence by putting the "heat" on those dirty Republicans? To put it simply, no. No, they are not.

You read that correctly. The Democratic Party is currently sitting at its all-time low approval rating while the GOP has reached its all-time high. So yeah, I think that the "heat" Schumer and company say they are putting on is rather ineffective. One might even call the assertion a severe case of cope.

This shouldn't surprise anyone. If you've watched any of the confirmation hearings for Trump's cabinet selections, Democrats have somehow managed to become even more insane. From Senator Mazie Hirono (D-HI) asking every nominee if they've ever sexually assaulted anyone to Senator Tammy Duckworth screaming at now-Secretary of State Pete Hegseth, it's been a banner few weeks for the left. Why would any American look at what they are offering and want more of it?

With that said, no one should get overconfident. Republicans will eventually face headwinds again as no presidential term goes perfectly. That's not happening right now, though, and Democrat attempts to change the narrative are falling flat. The voters still want no part of what Joe Biden and his party did to the country, and that's not changing anytime soon.
