With Joe Biden's approval in the toilet heading into 2023, the White House had a brilliant idea to get things back on track. Some absolute genius thought to themselves, "What if we take the middling economy, besieged by high inflation and rising interest rates, and plaster the president's name on it?"
Thus, "Bidenomics" was born, perhaps one of the worst political marketing campaigns to ever be formulated. It also may end up being one of the most short-lived if a new NBC News poll is any indication. Cue up "For Whom the Bell Tolls."
NBC poll: “Just 19% said they feel confident that life for their children’s generation will be better than it has been for them — an all-time low result on this poll question dating back to 1990.”

The question of whether one's children will be better off than their parents dates back to 1990 when NBC News first introduced it in its survey. With only 19 percent responding affirmatively, that is the lowest result ever.
As the president would say, "That's Bidenomics."
Bidenomics is not being able to afford a house because interest rates are at eight percent. Bidenomics is paying $14 for a value meal at a fast food joint. Bidenomics is driving your old car into the ground because a new Honda Accord costs so much. Bidenomics is watching your retirement stall out for years at a time because the stock market is so stagnant. Bidenomics is forgoing that planned vacation because airfare is up 40 percent and you've got three kids. Bidenomics is seeing your savings dwindle while you take on a second job just to keep up your standard of living.
Do you know what the great thing is about this compared to other political issues? It's the fact that politicians can't lie about it. Don't get me wrong, the Biden administration is actively trying to, but no one is buying it because again, you can't lie to people about what's in their bank account.
Whether the economy goes into a recession (we've already technically had one, though the White House and the press changed the definition so as to not acknowledge it) doesn't even matter. What matters is how expensive it is to live these days and how that affects people at an individual level. Prices are not coming down, and the American dream has never been more unattainable for the average person.
Where does the White House go from here? I don't know, but I know that trying to frame this turd of an economy as a positive is a failure. Of course, the above poll result could also have something to do with Biden making the world a far less stable and dangerous place. His foreign policy has been just as terrible, but I can only deal with one Biden disaster at a time lest I go insane.
