If you live in a part of the country that largely absconded from COVID-mania, things today aren’t much different than they were a year ago. But for many parts of the country, they’ve only just recently seen a return to some semblance of normal. That’s because, as many predicted, Omicron was relatively mild compared to previous variants and established natural immunity across most of the population.
Lest anyone think Democrat-led areas were going to give up their power that easily, though, mask hysteria has burst back into the room like the Kool-Aid man.
Philadelphia has a seven-day average of 170 new covid cases and two deaths in a city of 1.5 million people but the mask mandate is back.
I will love my hometown until the day I die but it is truly governed by psychopaths.

As Greg Price notes, Philadelphia is averaging only two deaths a day from COVID-19. The seven-day average for cases stands at just 170. Is that a precipitous increase compared to say, last week? No, it’s not, as cases remain relatively flat and lower than they were in January and February. Yet, the mask mandate is back anyway, forced on the population with no basis at all.
Where did the will to do this come from? Look no further than the Biden administration, which had its lackeys out on Sunday preaching the gospel of indoor masking again.

I suppose it’s good to know that Fauci is still alive after his hiatus from media over the last several months. But with another, even milder COVID variant spreading in Europe and China (BA.2 Omicron), the good doctor is back on the circuit, basking in the spotlight again.
The problem, of course, is that nothing about the science of masks has changed. Cloth and surgical masks remain largely ineffective in stopping the spread of the coronavirus. N95s, though perhaps marginally more effective, are not practical for everyday use because of fitment and sanitation needs. Real-world comparisons also continue to prove that mask mandates have seemingly no impact on ultimate levels of spread.
With all that said, I might as well be talking to the wall when I point those facts out. Those who push mask-wearing do so out of cultish devotion, not an eye toward what actually works. For politicians, masks are an easy scapegoat to be able to say “look, I’m doing something.” For true believers, it is their religion, never to be questioned. Given that, it’s not surprising that we are now entering the third summer of mask mandates in certain parts of the country despite COVID being endemic and under control.
If you live in blue areas, having a backup plan might be prudent because the Democrats who rule America’s major urban centers will never relinquish their power. This is going to go on forever.
