The race for the title of the “world’s most annoying anti-trump journalist” is highly competitive, to say the least. There’s the deranged Joy Reid and, well… pretty much anybody else at MSNBC. There are the harpies on ABC's “The View,” who often go off on fact-free tirades against the president-elect, and there are columnists like Jennifer Rubin, recently departed from the Washington Post, whose delusional rants send a thrill up the legs of the “resistance” crowd.
But if there’s one guy who sits at the top, or at least near the top of the list, it’s CNN narcissist Jim Acosta. He loved to preen for the camera during press briefings in the first Trump term and loudly pepper him with obnoxious questions that were often just statements of his own personal opinion rather than actual queries.
Remember when he refused to let go of the microphone and mistreated a poor young White House aide? This was at the height of the #MeToo movement, and although the caddish move was not harassment of a sexual nature, you still would have thought the P-Hat crowd would have something to say about it.
Nope. Crickets.

If you’re among the many who forgot that Acosta even existed, you’re not alone. Without Trump in office, he became irrelevant. Now, sensing a chance to return to his former glory, he‘s taken to performing “shockingly ego-crazed on-air act[s],” as another outlet nicely put it. Here’s his latest attempt at serious journalism:
CNN star Jim Acosta has been blasted for holding up a placard hailing his own achievements live on-air.
The 53-year-old, who rose to national attention for frequently clashing with President-elect Donald Trump, waved the placard live on air on Thursday.
Prior to doing so, he spoke directly to viewers about freedom of the press, saying: '[President Biden] warned the free press is crumbling in this country, I would add that's only if we the people let that happen.
'Journalists exist to seek the truth, to tell people stories, to lift up voices that may not be heard otherwise.
'To shine a light on injustice and hold the powerful accountable, we are not the enemy of the people we are the defender of the people.'
The 53-year-old then held up a bright pink sign that reads: 'I march for Jim Acosta and a free press.'
Such poetry. As the famous saying goes, “Gag me with a spoon.” How pompous and self-important can one man be? (Answer: plenty.)
Watch:
Jim Acosta just gave a pathetic monologue where he said he’s not the enemy of the people.

He’s wrong, of course. Acosta is fake news.
Fake news is the enemy of the people.

Journalist Glenn Greenwald was less than impressed, writing on X (Warning: coarse language):
This nakedly partisan b**** really does think he's the Conscience of America. Never seen a more self-important, sanctimonious blow hard in my entire life.
And no, I'll never get over the fact that he wrote a book bought by dumb liberals where he depicted himself as endangered.
Greenwald was referring to the pompously titled tome Acosta penned in 2019, “The Enemy of the People: A Dangerous Time to Tell the Truth in America.”
Also, note the placard Acosta so proudly displays in the video—it’s pink, and he says a woman gave it to him eight years ago. Yup, that would likely mean the P-Hat demonstrations, the tasteless and unhinged protests that broke out in D.C. after Trump's inauguration in 2017. You can tell how proud Acosta is of his association with that buffoonery. That tells you all you need to know about him.
It’s going to be interesting watching lefty journalists cry for viewers as Trump 2.0 comes to town and nobody seems to be listening to them (or watching them) anymore. Expect more silliness from unserious egotists like Acosta.
