Donald Trump continues to add to his team, and on Sunday night, he announced that his personal lawyer, Alina Habba, who’s been a vocal defender of the President-elect in several of his legal trials, as Counselor to the President.

She fully understands the “Weaponization of the ‘Injustice’ System,” the Trump-Vance transition team said in an email:

I am pleased to announce that Alina Habba will join my White House Team as Counselor to the President. Alina has been a tireless advocate for Justice, a fierce Defender of the Rule of Law, and an invaluable Advisor to my Campaign and Transition Team. She has been unwavering in her loyalty, and unmatched in her resolve - standing with me through numerous “trials,” battles, and countless days in Court. Few understand the Weaponization of the “Injustice” System better than Alina, who has fought relentlessly against the full force of Lawfare with courage and an unshakable commitment to Justice. As a first generation American of Middle Eastern Heritage, she has become a role model for women in Law and Politics, most recently being named Chaldean Woman of the Year.

Congratulations to Alina, her husband Gregg, and her three beautiful children, Chloe, Luke, and Parker.

She had been rumored as a possible press secretary, but that job went to the Trump Campaign's National Press Secretary, Karoline Leavitt.

I wrote at the time:

In my opinion, she [Habba] would have been good at the job: she’s telegenic, quick on her feet, and not shy about sharing her opinions. It sounds like she will still be involved in the administration, however, as she wrote, “I will be better served in other capacities.” We’ll see where she ends up.

Now we know where she’ll end up.

Habba served as lead attorney in the ridiculous E. Jean Carroll defamation lawsuit against Trump, and was part of Trump's legal team in the equally dubious real estate fraud case brought by crusading Attorney General Letitia James. Although Habba and the president-elect came out on the losing end of both of those cases, the obvious abuse of the system was noticed by voters, and the more and more lawfare that ensued, the higher Trump’s approval ratings rose.

Americans knew the system was rigged.

Trump continues to make liberal heads explode with his picks to round out his administration, and this one will doubtless evoke the same reaction. The Usual Suspects will be unable to cope with the fact that a passionate, telegenic, eloquent woman will be part of Trump’s crew.

Paging Mark Cuban.
