As we wrote earlier on Thursday, during a hearing of the Homeland Security Committee, the Republicans on the committee unanimously voted to move forward with the impeachment of the man empowered by President Joe Biden to keep our nation safe ... and who is arguably the most responsible for lawlessness and breakdown of our national sovereignty/security at the southern border with Mexico.

It was notable who wasn't in attendance at the hearing--Alejandro Mayorkas, the Homeland Security Secretary, who has stonewalled Congress' many requests for documents, and at least four opportunities to explain in his own words to the American people what exactly is happening under his watch.
Every single time, Mayorkas has "tacitly rejected or failed to respond" to invitations to either testify or "submit written testimony," the Republicans wrote:
This Committee has 173 request items to DHS for documents and information—all still unfulfilled by Secretary Mayorkas.

He is obstructing congressional investigations and oversight. This is unacceptable. https://t.co/bbA0FOPyhI
Apparently Sams missed our August letter inviting Secretary Mayorkas to testify about the border. And our September letter. And our January letter. And our second offer this week to submit written testimony.

So far, he's tacitly rejected or failed to respond to each one. https://t.co/W3mwb4UG6i
Mayorkas was a no-show again, of course. Speaking with the media after the hearing on Thursday, Committee Chair, Rep. Mark Green (R-TN) said (forward clip to 1:24; emphasis mine):
It was pretty heartrending to hear those mothers describe the murder by an MS-13 gang member, basically. And that one mother who lost her child to fentanyl--wasn't even trying to take fentanyl, it was fentanyl-laced something else. There wasn't, as you said, a dry eye in the room.
These people came from all over our country; one of them, Ms. Dunn, came from Arizona--all the way from Arizona--and Sec. Mayorkas just can't come across the city? We've asked this guy...the secretary...four times, to talk on this topic [of] border security, and he's refused every time.

There were several family members who spoke, but I wanted to make sure you heard from this one. Listen to the heartbreaking testimony in the clip below, the full-force and righteous anger of an Arizona mom whose daughter was killed by ingesting pills laced with fentanyl:
"I personally feel Mr. Mayorkas is responsible for opening that border." – Josephine Dunn. pic.twitter.com/aDho7JddXo

Josephine Dunn told Congress that it is fully on the head of Mayorkas who, by leaving her state's porous border unprotected, caused her daughter to "le[ave] this Earth 967 days ago." I urge you to listen to her words, and make sure others hear them. This tragedy is not something that only affects other people, somewhere far away, in border states; fentanyl-adulterated pills have been killing Americans all across the country for years. And it needs to stop. Those who are allowing this "weapon of mass destruction" of our children and our families must be held accountable--period.
