As I’ve sadly had to write about a lot lately (like this and this) — and, in fact, as I was just writing about earlier today (see here), the Left’s dangerous, rising incivility continues.
On Monday, Capitol Police arrested a man for threatening to kill Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul. Furthermore, the suspect reportedly claimed he would chop up Paul’s family with an ax.
This is where we arrive when the disdain which begins with ridiculous comparisons of Trump to Hitler (found here) escalates to a complete disrespect for the presidency to the tune of a televised “F*** Trump” courtesy of a once-esteemed actor (see here) and the calling of the President’s daughter a c-word (covered here and here).
With no consequence of getting fired, by the way.
Life is always on the move; we are never sitting still. Your relationship with your spouse, friend, loved one…it is always changing. Every action you take is leading it toward wonderful or terrible things. The same can be said of the Left and their relationship with truth, disseminated to an ignorant public (which I’ve written about here and here). The resultant fear and paranoia of that propaganda, coupled with the increasingly grotesque rhetoric on television and elsewhere, leads us to the furthest place it can go, if not stopped.
That place, as insane as it is, is not merely violence (which we’ve already seen with Antifa), but outright murder.
Rand tweeted gratitude to the U.S. Capitol Police:
Thank you to the US Capitol Police for their arrest of the man who recently threatened to kill my family and me.
— Senator Rand Paul (@RandPaul) July 2, 2018
While in Bowling Green for an event, Paul described the situation to Louisville’s Courier Journal:
“The Capitol Hill Police issued an arrest warrant. This man had threatened to kill me and chop up my family with an ax…It’s just horrendous that we have to deal with things like this.”
This isn’t the senator’s first brush with danger. In November, his 59-year-old neighbor attacked him over a pile of brush which was close to the property line. As a result, Paul suffered six broken ribs and fluid build-up outside his lungs.
Rand was also one of several governmental figures at a Virginia baseball park when a gunman attacked a practice for the annual Congressional Baseball Game for Charity, shooting Louisiana Rep. Steve Scalise and several congressional employees.
This, of course, follows Maxine Waters’s stated threat to all in the Trump administration (as covered here; in particular, please read this).
Unless political leaders and the media do an immediate about-face on all of this, calling for a return to civility, I fear something terrible may happen soon. The side which hates violence so much that they want to ban guns is the very side which appears to be ramping up to the use of them.
Do you? Please let me know your thoughts.
Also, check out my links in the article; this is a very broad and important issue.
For something totally different, here’s a story about a couple who beat their unborn child to death and may receive no punishment.
For a much happier story, here’s my coverage of Korean soldiers coming home.
