Unmasking the Hustle: Dominique Alexander, 'Advocate' for Karmelo Anthony

The case of Karmelo Anthony, who stands accused of the murder of Austin Metcalf and whose family has raised a ton of money through a GiveSendGo fundraiser--and has moved into a big new house in a gated community--drags on. On Wednesday, I noted some stark differences between the accused in this case, who is pleading self-defense, and another case that was self-defense, and yet proceeded very differently:

Now, the hustle has begun in the tale of Karmelo Anthony and Austin Metcalf. One Dominique Alexander has attached himself to the family of Anthony as an "advocate," and he's a real piece of work. A Texas Republican state legislator and activist, Sarah Fields, has some background.

Dominique Alexander, a felon who beat a baby to the point of brain injury and is acting as an advocate for Karmelo Anthony’s family, is angry that I exposed him for who he is: a grifting, racist pot-stirrer running a fraudulent organization.

The X post continues:

He called me out by name during his press conference. He held up my posts, including Karmelo’s arrest report, which I obtained through a FOIA, and a post in which I was threatened (a strange choice to highlight), among others. He claimed my intent was to interfere with Karmelo’s family receiving assistance.

This man has placed a target on me and my family for reporting the truth and investigating him and his organization. This is who he is, and I will not be intimidated. I am no stranger to threats; I have received them nearly every hour for the last four days. It will likely get worse.

Please pray for my family.

Regarding my post on Wednesday making the comparison to the Rittenhouse case, Alexander also spread some pretty blatant falsehoods about that matter.

Both of those statements are untrue, and Alexander is either deliberately lying or is catastrophically ignorant, or both.

My colleague Bonchie, earlier on Thursday, brought us the story on how Austin Metcalf's father showed up at a presser held by the hustler:

Bonchie writes:

I'm just in awe of how someone could be that evil. To speak about the father of a murdered boy that way, trying to pretend like the alleged killer and his family are the victims, is jarring, to say the least. To then go on to proclaim "actions speak louder than words" when the action predating all of this is the stabbing of an innocent high-school student is grotesque. Where is the remorse? Where is the care for the loss that Metcalf's family has suffered?

While I share Bonchie's concern and puzzlement, I think I have the answer: There is no remorse because Dominique Alexander, a racist tub-thumper, knows no remorse for the death of Austin Metcalf; that innocent boy may as well have been a sheep for all the concern Alexander shows for him. There is no care for the loss to Austin Metcalf's family because it doesn't serve Dominique Alexander's purpose, which is to find a way to cash in, to promote himself, to somehow turn this whole thing to his advantage.

This is not the act of a "minister" or a family advocate. This is the act of a con artist.

We can only hope that Austin Metcalf's family finds justice in the courts, because they won't find any at the hands of this hustler.
