Many things have changed since President Trump resumed office, not the least of which being that we traded a befuddled, corrupt old Swamp creature for a president who actually knows what he intends to do and is going about doing it - not to mention that the new president, unlike the old, is interested in our nation once more having, you know, borders.

Yes, this is revealing. President Joe Biden repeatedly insisted his hands were tied; he blamed Congress for not passing a border bill. More specifically, he blamed Congressional Republicans for blocking the Democrat's phony-baloney "border" bill that would have still allowed people in.

Then, on Inauguration Day, President Trump started firing out executive orders like machine-gun bullets. And then... Well, the numbers speak for themselves, don't they?

And there's more to it than just illegal border crossers.

No immigration reform act was needed. All we needed to do, it seems, was to unleash the Border Patrol and Homeland Security to let them do their jobs. All we needed to do was enforce the laws already on the books. 

All we needed was a new president.

Democrats, in this as in so many other things, regularly fall into the hack politician cycle: "This happened. We need to do something. This is something. Let's do this!" They mistake movement for purpose, and that's a big reason why they fail. In this case, though, it sure seems like there was more to it than that. This appears deliberate. Joe Biden, on his first day in office in 2021, set himself (well, someone set him) to the task of undoing everything President Trump had done without a thought about whether it was a good idea or not. For four years, the Biden administration pointed at Congress and shouted that they must act while welcoming in millions of people from all over, including places like Iran and China. Millions - many young, unaccompanied, military-aged men. And now we don't know where they are or what they may be up to.

So, as the X poster notes, what else was the Biden administration lying about? We may be learning the answers to that for the next ten years. Granted, especially for the last couple of years, old Joe himself was definitely in a diminished capacity; honestly, he appeared most of the time to have very little idea of what was going on. But the decisions were nevertheless made to allow this border fiasco to happen.

That's where any investigation of this mess has to go. Who pushed these wide-open border policies - and to what end?

Meanwhile, President Trump is back, and the numbers of attempted border crossings are way down - as you can see. The worst of the bleeding has been stanched. And, wonder of wonders, without a pork-laden immigration reform bill. 

It's amazing what you can do by just enforcing the law.
