It is belaboring the obvious to observe that children aged in the single digits don't yet have a real good grasp on how the world works. This does not reflect poorly on any such children, of course; they are children, and especially in their pre-school years, they are little imagination machines with little experience but rapidly developing brains. And sometimes they get stuck on flights of fancy that last a while. As an example, the summer I was three (1964), as my Mom was fond of reminding me, I went around insisting I was Geronimo, Chief of the Chiricahuas. Later that fall, I insisted for a couple of months that I was a red-tailed hawk. Fortunately for me, my parents declined my requests to have feathers surgically implanted.
Little kids are little kids, and we can't expect them to understand major, life-altering decisions. A three-year-old boy may one day insist he's a girl, then a week later insist he's a dog. That's how kids are.
So when a "transgender activist" named Sandy Moore goes on Dr. Phil and claims that preschool kids "know who they are," in the sense that they know their "gender identity," you can see why that is giggle-inducing, and Dr. Phil's audience seems to agree, judging from the laughter.
Big moment on @DrPhil when a trans advocate is met with groans of disapproval from the studio audience after saying kids “know who they are” at 3, 4, or 5 years old. Expert Dr. @LeorSapir explains why detransitioners show us that kids, in fact, do not always know who they are.🧵 pic.twitter.com/p9jKHsUglh

Dr. Sapir explained precisely why Sandy Moore is full of the malodorous assimilated residue of the digestive process of the male bovine:
Manhattan Institute fellow and researcher Leor Sapir then chimed in, stating, “The idea that kids know who they are, I think the very existence of de-transitioners shows that that’s not true.”
Sapir continued:
Because these kids arrived at the clinic confident, 100 percent convinced that they knew who they were. Their parents were 100 percent convinced, apparently, because they gave consent, that these treatments are correct. And yet, these kids, very shortly after they got double mastectomies, or subjected their bodies to irreversible, often sterilizing treatments — and by the way, if you do the full course of medical transition, even just hormonal, it is guaranteed chemical castration for the rest of your life — and these kids went into that office “knowing who they are,” and yet very quickly after that regretted it.
Key phrase: "Their parents were 100 percent convinced." That, folks, is the key. It's not the kids - it's the parents. There seems to be a subset of the radical leftist community that views having a "transgender" child as some kind of virtue-signalling status symbol. It seems to be an outright epidemic in Hollywood, but then, Hollywood isn't exactly populated with the most stable of folks. What is certain is this: Any three-year-old who claims to be "transgender" is almost certainly coached into that claim by an activist parent.
Fortunately, we're starting to see some pushback on this insanity.

Any adult, of course, may do as they like, and much good may it do them. As adults, they are presumably capable and legally entitled to make their own life decisions and to accept the consequences of those decisions. That's what being an adult is all about. Granted, some people never seem to figure adulting out, but that's their problem. Now, I do have a serious Hippocratic Oath issue with doctors who will slice up healthy, functional tissue, especially in light of how many people, children and adults both, end up regretting the decision.
As Breitbart News reported, a majority of children who are confused about their sex grow out of that feeling by the time they become adults, according to recently published study that was conducted over the course of a 15-year time period.
Another recent study also strongly suggests that social contagion is a factor in teenagers and young adults identifying as transgender.
Meanwhile, a staggering 602 underage girls in Canada have had their breasts surgically removed since 2018 for transgender-related reasons.
Another study also found that men in California who removed their genitals via transgender surgery later try to commit suicide at twice the rate as before undergoing the surgery.
While adults are one thing, children are another matter, and it's baffling that government agencies that will slam a child into foster care because the child's parents let them walk home from school unaccompanied will turn around and claim that a 12-year-old should be allowed to go on life-changing puberty-blocking drugs because they decided they are "transgender." These children are not capable of making these kinds of life-altering decisions, no matter what activists like Sandy Moore think. That's a fact, and fortunately, we're starting to see more people like Leor Sapir - and, yes, Dr. Phil - are increasingly pushing back.
