Just a hint for our overlord political bedwetters afraid of anything with the letters C-O-V-I-D in it, you do know that George Orwell wrote about this type of authoritarian nonsense in a book, right? Yet I digress, please don’t get better at this fear-mongering, as your screw-ups are actually better for us all.

In case you missed it while you enjoyed being thankful for living in the United States of America yesterday, a new variant of COVID snuck up almost overnight. This crept up on Dr. Fauci and his crew so fast that there was a disruption in the messaging between the N.I.H. and the White House while making sure the President had his morning ice cream. Then we reported on Dr. Anthony Fauci claiming they needed more time and information to decide on whether they needed to be talking about travel bans, that they wouldn’t be implementing a travel ban yet.

“There is always the possibility of doing what the UK has done, namely block travel from South Africa and related countries,” Fauci said in a CNN interview.

“That’s certainly something you think about and get prepared to do. You’re prepared to do everything you need to protect the American public. But you want to make sure there’s a basis for doing that.”

Fauci added in that interview: “Obviously as soon as we find out more information we’ll make a decision as quickly as we possibly can.”

Then within hours of Fauci’s comments on television, the Biden Administration has now announced there would be a ban, which contradicted what Fauci had just said.

So much for following the science right?

Now, you can fairly call me a bit of a skeptic here about our government being straight with us. However, you might also have a ton of questions if you read my compadre Scott Hounsell‘s articles entitled “Fauci Lied” — do that and tell me you aren’t a bit more skeptical.

I dare you.

Also in Michigan, we have had a bit of some political game playing it seems in regards to COVID and it has not been pleasant. I covered this last week in this post about Gov. The Great Lakes State is once again making some headlines because we have a spike in COVID and this has the media in the state heading for the hills in fear. Unlike last year, though, our part-time fearless Governor is not only NOT issuing orders to save the lives of the unwashed masses, she can’t be found anywhere to offer a meager comment.

Michigan again leads the country in new COVID-19 cases per population over the last seven days, according to tracking data Tuesday from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The state has reported a seven-day new case rate of 504 per 100,000 residents, the highest number nationally, the CDC found. Minnesota followed in second at 490. The figures are another setback in the state’s 20-month fight against the virus and came amid spikes in new infections that are testing the capacity of Michigan’s hospitals.

Michigan last led the nation in new cases per population in the spring during a surge that peaked in April. It remains unclear how long the latest surge will last and how it will affect health care workers who’ve been dealing with the pandemic since March 2020.

So where is Whitmer?

Well, she is busy making sure her campaign war chest is being filled for her re-election campaign next year. So far she is doing a great job with over $17 million collected so far.

With almost two-thirds of Michigan having at least one shot in the arm of government-recommended COVID squasher, how could this state be rivaling infections of last year with no shots available at that time? Now, we are getting a 4th or 5th wave of COVID and the fear bell that is being rung is that this variant will blow right through the shots and boosters.

Don’t any of our government keepers want to pump the brakes on this fear truck and possibly pull over at the next rest stop to possibly evaluate where we are? How about Biden and Fauci getting on the same page about banning travelers coming into the country? I seem to recall the former guy with the top job and a stellar tan getting ripped for calling a halt to the Chinese popping into the country, given where COVID came from.

The real shame about this is WHEN a really serious virus or event comes along that has less than a 99.9% survival rate and the same government that is trying to scare everyone every 90 days alerts us, will people listen? I don’t think so and because of this error $%^& show more people will be hurt or die.

We deserve better than this but, then again, maybe not.

I heard somewhere that over 80 million people voted for the current circus at the White House and maybe we are just getting payback for that ill-advised choice.
