FLASHBACK: Headlines Four Years Ago Today When Questioning Election Results Was Noble

Ahhhhhhhhh how time flies when you are having some sort of fun.

I’m just old enough to remember the good ole days, like four years ago when you could go to a restaurant without having to wrap your face in a cloth that may or may not prevent you from killing someone. Facebook and Twitter hated you if you were a conservative, but they were still not bold enough to just throw you off the platform for being one because that somehow violated their terms of service. Also, Fox News was leading in the T.V. ratings not trying to chase CNN and the human potato Brian Stelter.

Just four short years ago.

The BIG thing that was happening was that this was the last full day for the Obama administration and just a day away from Donald Trump being sworn in as the 45th President of the United States. Also, it was a totally honorable thing to question the election of the incoming President of the United States, no questions asked.

In fact, it was patriotic or something.

If you don’t recall, thankfully I am here to give you a brief refresher. From the grand old decrepit lady of journalism, New York Times

American law enforcement and intelligence agencies are examining intercepted communications and financial transactions as part of a broad investigation into possible links between Russian officials and associates of President-elect Donald J. Trump, including his former campaign chairman Paul Manafort, current and former senior American officials said.

The continuing counterintelligence investigation means that Mr. Trump will take the oath of office on Friday with his associates under investigation and after the intelligence agencies concluded that the Russian government had worked to help elect him. As president, Mr. Trump will oversee those agencies and have the authority to redirect or stop at least some of these efforts.

It is not clear whether the intercepted communications had anything to do with Mr. Trump’s campaign, or Mr. Trump himself. It is also unclear whether the inquiry has anything to do with an investigation into the hacking of the Democratic National Committee’s computers and other attempts to disrupt the elections in November. The American government has concluded that the Russian government was responsible for a broad computer hacking campaign, including the operation against the D.N.C.

Wow, isn’t that novel? The New York Times was leading the charge to question the election that had defeated the smartest woman that had ever lived, Hillary Clinton. Of course, they didn’t have any evidence of theft, just questions. In fact, they say so later in the article…

The F.B.I. is leading the investigations, aided by the National Security Agency, the C.I.A. and the Treasury Department’s financial crimes unit. The investigators have accelerated their efforts in recent weeks but have found no conclusive evidence of wrongdoing, the officials said. One official said intelligence reports based on some of the wiretapped communications had been provided to the White House.

No evidence at all of a crime but by golly gee wiliker we should do an investigation.

As we all know now, the whole Russian Collusion nonsense was just that, nonsense. On my podcast a couple of months back I talked with Byron York of the Washington Examiner about his excellent book covering all this “Obsession, Inside The Washington Establishments Never-Ending War on Trump.’ and York painstakingly goes over the whole debacle. The only collusion was the media trying to pull one over on the American public right at the beginning of the Trump Presidency.

Yet my larger point here is this, how did we come in just four short years that questioning an election was the most patriotic thing one could do, to now anyone asking that all the votes should be properly accounted for is now worthy of getting you banned from society.

That and letting your mask slip under your nose is also a major faux pax.

There is more evidence of law-breaking in Pennsylvania during this past election than there ever was in the Russia Collusion hoax. When you just change the rules for the whole state on how to process ballots just days before the election, people should actually be talking about that. Yet we hear crickets from the very same people that just four years ago had Farrah Fawcett like posters of Christopher Steele hanging in their newsrooms. They also are going as far as saying you hate America if you ask any questions about how someone that forgets where his shoes are every 4 hours could have ever garnered 80 million votes.

Amazing.

Thankfully the internet has not totally wiped out the history we are not supposed to remember and I was able to find this lil historical nugget in the interwebs time-capsule. If you have any other FLASHBACK suggestions don’t hesitate to send them to me at [email protected] and I might write about it here or talk about it on my radio show and podcast.

Remember, it really is fashionable to question the people who scream that no questions are to be allowed. Just watching the veins in their head pop out is truly our reward.
