Hillary Clinton Would Prefer NOT to Talk About Harvey Weinstein, Please

What’s wrong, Hill?

It would seem all of us who have pushed the notion of Hillary Clinton as a shameless attention seeker with an overblown ego and sense of entitlement may owe her an apology.

There actually are moments when the former First Lady will retreat from the spotlight.

Ronan Farrow, the journalist who put Harvey Weinstein’s atrocities on blast, spoke earlier Wednesday about his shock over just how testy and skittish some people are, in regards to speaking out against what Weinstein has done.

They certainly aren’t standing up for his accusers.

And by “they,” I mean you can include Hillary Clinton in that group.

Said Farrow, while appearing on “Good Morning, America”:

“Hillary Clinton had scheduled an interview while it was at the height of the Weinstein reporting and her folks got in touch and said, ‘We hear you’re working on a big story,'” Farrow told ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos. “[They] sounded very concerned and tried to cancel that interview.”

Farrow’s story on Weinstein made massive waves across social media, last Fall. It also blew the lid off of sexual abuses and misconduct in entertainment, news, and other media fields. It created a zero tolerance policy for bad behavior, and was the start of the #MeToo movement.

Stephanopoulos pushed on:

“Over the Weinstein stuff?” Stephanopoulos asked.

“Over the Weinstein stuff,” Farrow confirmed.

“Oh, I’m surprised at that,” added Stephanopoulos, who has donated $75,000 to the Clinton Foundation.

Don’t worry, George. It doesn’t make you an accomplice to sexual assault, by association.

Hillary, on the other hand…

“It was surprising,” Farrow said.

It shouldn’t have been.

The Clintons have had a close relationship with Weinstein, as a reliable liberal donor, and that isn’t the tough part.

They could easily say, “We didn’t know. How awful!”

They don’t want to do that. If Weinstein wiggles out of this thing, they’d prefer not to burn that particular money bridge.

There’s also the matter of Bill Clinton’s well-documented offenses. Hillary was willing to “stand by her man” because she wasn’t going to let go of the upward mobility in the ranks of politics that she was afforded because of her husband’s popularity in liberal circles. In fact, as was featured here today, Juanita Broaddrick marked today, the 40th anniversary of her alleged rape by Clinton, by tweeting the timeline of those horrific events.

With that in mind, you wouldn’t be faulted for wondering if Hillary is running from the Weinstein conversation, not just because of the connection she and her husband have with this man, but because of the uncomfortable hypocrisy of talking about his crimes, without discussing her husband’s, as well.
