Trey Gowdy is from South Carolina and is no longer a member of Congress. Elizabeth Warren is from Massachusetts and is running for president. In ordinary times those things would not be vaguely related. But these are not ordinary times.
Yesterday, the Daily Caller ran sort of a puff-piece on Gowdy and what lies ahead for him: HERE IS WHAT’S NEXT FOR TREY GOWDY.
Trey Gowdy revealed his post-Congress plans Thursday.
The former Republican South Carolina representative will join Nelson Mullins, the South Carolina-based law and lobbying firm announced.
Gowdy, 54, worked at Nelson Mullins through 1994, when he left the firm to become an assistant federal prosecutor.
Joining Gowdy at Mullins’s white collar defense and government investigations team are his longtime chief of staff, Cindy Crick, and Sheria Clarke, the former staff director for the House Oversight Committee, which Gowdy chaired.
For reasons known only to her and possibly her medicine man, Elizabeth Warren used that article as a launching point to attack Gowdy as unethical.
.@TGowdySC foamed at the mouth with power in Congress, then retired because he claimed he didn't enjoy it. Now it’s clear: Trey Gowdy just wanted a fat lobbyist paycheck. That should be illegal. https://t.co/mxnxaufvgU

We need a lifetime ban on lobbying for members of Congress. And fix the swiss cheese def of “lobbying” so anyone who gets paid to influence Washington has to register. Public service shouldn’t be a launching pad for guys like @TGowdySC & @JoeLieberman to enrich themselves.

As the article pretty well states, Gowdy is working within the white collar criminal law practice, not the lobbying practice. Even The Daily Beast noticed:

Then Gowdy, himself, lowered the boom:
.@ewarren I’m not lobbying. Not now. Or ever. Perhaps you were cracking open a beer when that was announced. Don’t mind your criticisms. Just be more sensitive to facts.

He’s probably referring to the ridiculous video made by Warren gagging down her first beer and trying to look like a “regular guy”
Because face-planting drunk into a van at 11:00 in the morning worked so well for the last Democrat presidential candidate… pic.twitter.com/yGc8rOg0go

or just the “firewater” in general.
At the rate it is going, Warren’s candidacy is going to self-immolate before the primary season gets serious and it will be weeks before anyone notices.
