TOP O' THE MORNIN'

Marco Rubio Leaves Jonathan Karl Spluttering As He Lays Out Successes of Trump Versus Failures of Biden

That's when things took a somewhat humorous (albeit darkly humorous) turn, with Karl expressing utter disbelief that Rubio would want to associate himself in any way with the Bad Orange Man or could possibly lay blame at the feet of President Joe Biden for much of the chaos we're seeing at present.

James Carville Lets Loose: Looking at Biden's Poll Numbers Is 'Like Walking in on Your Grandma Naked'

He thinks Dem messaging these days is turning off half the population—men.

“A suspicion of mine is that there are too many preachy females … ‘Don’t drink beer, don’t watch football, don’t eat hamburgers, this is not good for you,'” he said. “The message is too feminine: ‘Everything you’re doing is destroying the planet. You’ve got to eat your peas.'”

Fani Willis Delivers a New Threat to Donald Trump, Sets Up a Constitutional Crisis

WHAT'S ON TAP?

Today on Capitol Hill...

Looks to be a (relatively) quiet week on Capitol Hill as both houses are on their Easter recess. No doubt, there will be continued fallout from Marjorie Taylor Greene's looming motion to vacate the Speaker's chair, the impact of the spending package, and the battle over Ukraine funding.

White House What's Up

President Joe Biden was set to return to the White House from Delaware late Sunday. As of this writing, there's nothing on his public schedule for Monday. Perhaps he needs a day of rest from his weekend away...

Full Court Press...

The Supreme Court will hear oral argument in several cases on Monday:

  1. Becerra v. San Carlos Apache Tribe —
  2. Becerra v. Northern Arapaho Tribe — (Consolidated cases regarding "whether the Indian Health Service must pay “contract support costs” not only to support IHS-funded activities, but also to support the tribe’s expenditure of income collected from third parties)"
  3. Harrow v. Dept. of Defense — At issue: "Whether the 60-day deadline in 5 U.S.C. § 7703(b)(1)(A) for a federal employee to petition the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit to review a final decision of the Merit Systems Protection Board is jurisdictional"

And, of course, Monday is the day that former President Donald Trump's bond is due in his appeal of the civil fraud judgment entered against him in New York — will he meet the deadline?

MORNING MUSING

Welp, my brackets are done busted. For one brief shining moment in the middle of Round 2, things looked promising.

But now, it appears that I'll wind up very middle-of-the-pack at best. Still fun to follow along and track the outcomes — but it's even more fun when bragging rights are included.

LIGHTER FARE
