Will There Be Blood? America Post-Abortion

A cynic might think, after the ruling on concealed carry was released Thursday by the court, that SCOTUS is just teasing leftists activists at this point, releasing opinions and decisions that, under normal circumstances would have them spitting hate in the streets. But these — as Dobbs, the decision that will almost certainly undo Roe v. Wade, hangs in the balance — are not normal circumstances.

It may be a very wise move on the part of SCOTUS, to diversify the hate so that when Dobbs does come (and the leaked draft already has lefties sharpening their handmaid’s tale costumes), their collective hate won’t be focused all in one direction and perhaps the response will be a bit mitigated.

And maybe it’ll work. But Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz doesn’t necessarily think so. In fact, he thinks we may be on the verge of the Summer of 2020 Riots 2.0.

Republican Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas predicted that an upcoming Supreme Court ruling could trigger a “reprise” of the riots in 2020 during a Wednesday Fox News appearance.

“They’re going to engage in riots, they’re going to engage in violence,” Cruz told Fox News host Sean Hannity. “We’re going to see a reprise, I fear, of the Black Lives Matter and the Antifa riots where they’re going to try to use political violence to advance their ends, and the Department of Justice needs to step in and stop them.” (RELATED: Cruz Blasts Democrats As Party Of ‘Criminals’ And ‘Violence’ After Threat To Pro-Life Groups)

Since a draft opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization that would overturn Roe v. Wade leaked in May, dozens of pro-life groups, churches and crisis pregnancy centers have been attacked. One pro-abortion group, Jane’s Revenge, posted a statement last week taking credit for multiple attacks across the country, including the firebombing of pro-life groups and crisis pregnancy centers in Wisconsin, Oregon and New York.

In the wake of George Floyd’s death in 2020, riots broke out nationwide, causing at least 24 deaths and over $1 billion in property damage.

Some of the more vocal and — frankly — execrable factions on the extreme left have already promised to “rage” when the decision is released.

A friend last week sent a photo of a flyer popping up around Washington. “DC CALL TO ACTION NIGHT OF RAGE,” it declares. “THE NIGHT SCOTUS OVERTURNS ROE V. WADE HIT THE STREETS YOU SAID YOU’D RIOT.”

It continues: “‘TO OUR OPPRESSORS: IF ABORTIONS AREN’T SAFE, YOU’RE NOT EITHER.’ JANE’S REVENGE.”

That’s an incitement to more than peaceful protest against the Court. The threat of violence has to be taken seriously because Jane’s Revenge has already taken credit for acts of destruction against pregnancy-crisis centers around the country. Our Nicole Ault nearby reports on this ominous trend against pro-life groups that counsel pregnant women considering abortion.

No doubt this is why the court is delaying releasing the final opinion on Dobbs. It gives law enforcement time to negotiate these implicit and explicit threats, and make available other grist for the more extreme groups to chew on and, hopefully, preoccupy them a bit when the decision is finally made public.

But no one should be naive — losing Roe is not likely to be a small thing to the radical left and they are likely to raise a little hell. But Americans should take some comfort in the knowledge that progressive protests outside Justice’s homes, up to and including a legitimate assassination attempt on Justice Kavanaugh, did not deter SCOTUS from doing the right thing and respecting the Constitution. Americans should should show as much quiet conviction when confronted with the emotional outbursts sure to come.
