Following the gas attack in Syria allegedly carried out by Syrian President Bashar Assad against his own people, Russia will face an emergency UN Security Council meeting wherein they will likely be questioned regarding their backing of that regime. Monday morning, President Donald Trump told reporters gathered to attend the president’s cabinet meeting that the administration is on the verge of making a decision about Syria in the next 24-48 hours.

At the meeting, Trump strongly condemned the Syrian attack.

“It was atrocious. It was horrible,”  he said, adding, “This is about humanity and it can’t be allowed to happen. If it’s the Russians, if it’s Syria, if it’s Iran, if it’s all of them together, we’ll figure it out.”

The administration said they were prepared to make a decision regarding the gas attack sometime in the next 24-48 hours. They also indicated there will be a meeting with North Korea sometime in late May or early June.

Trump has insinuated that Russia has played a covert role in backing Assad and his gas attacks. Russia counters that Israel is to blame for escalating tensions in the region.
