Failed U.S. Senate candidate and failed 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke (D-TX) decided to join the national media on Friday in criticizing Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s (R) Wuhan virus leadership and the state’s phased reopening plan, the first phase of which started earlier this month.

O’Rourke first started out by suggesting the reopening was premature and insinuating the governor was encouraging people to be unsafe when they went about their daily business:

This in spite of the fact that the main reason why case numbers have increased in Texas is because of more testing, and in spite of the fact that Abbott is continuing to encourage Texans to wash their hands, wear masks, and to social distance:

Beto took another swipe at Abbott in a later tweet, calling his reopen plan, without evidence, “dangerous, dumb, and weak”:

This got a rise out of Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX), who fired back against O’Rourke’s claims about Abbott by correctly pointing out that Beto was not just insulting and belittling Abbott but Average Joe and Jane Texans, too:

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), who defeated Beto in 2018, responded as well with a different take:

Beto also thought it would be a good idea to try and dunk on Crenshaw over a report about sales of Crenshaw’s new book “Fortitude”:

It’s actually standard operating procedure for political parties to buy bulk copies of books written by members of their own party for giveaways, promos, fundraisers, etc, which Beto knows. In any event, Crenshaw let him have it:

And not only is O’Rourke a millionaire, but he’s the last person who should be lecturing anyone about a person trying to make an honest living:

There’s also the little matter of the jealousy factor, when you compare Crenshaw’s book sales to Beto’s.

Don’t go away mad, Beto. Please just go away. Please.
