Amazing: Non-Verbal Man With ALS Communicates on X Because of Elon Musk and Neuralink

What the left has done in trying to demonize Elon Musk is truly evil. That is not just because it is wrong and he's put so much on the line to help the country with DOGE. But it's also because he's contributed so many other things to the world, including freer speech by buying X, bringing home astronauts, and providing the hope of going to Mars with SpaceX. They should be thanking him rather than protesting him, calling him a Nazi, and committing terrorism against his company Tesla.

Another amazing thing Elon Musk has done also got a lot of attention this week - what he has achieved with Neuralink.

We covered some of what had been done with the first Neuralink implant patient, Noland Arbaugh, who is paralyzed below the shoulders but can now play video games with his mind.

Now there's even more.

Brad Smith has ALS and can't move his arms or legs. He is non-verbal because of the illness. He also has a wife and children. But he was able to communicate on X because of a Neuralink brain implant, as he explains. He's one of three people who have received such an implant.

It utilizes his old voice, which was cloned from old recordings with AI. He types with his brain, and that's how he's able to communicate.  He made the video using the Brain Computer Interface (BCI) to help control the mouse on his computer. It's both wild and truly inspirational.

"I have ALS, a really weird disease that kills the motor neurons that control my muscles, but not affecting my mind," he said. "My experience has been pretty interesting, starting with a shoulder injury that would not heal and ending up with my current status. I cannot move anything but my eyes and I'm totally reliant on a ventilator to keep me alive and breathing."

Smith previously used eye gaze control to help communicate before Neuralink, but that worked best in dark rooms. But he said he felt like "Batman" using it.  So that didn't translate well if he wanted to move around outside. Neuralink doesn't have that problem. The implant communicates with the computer using Bluetooth. The implant is the size of five quarters and is embedded in his motor cortex.

Smith said it had given him "freedom, hope, and faster communication...It has improved my life so much. I am so happy to be involved in something big that will help many people."

Smith believes he was put in this situation to help serve others, "In time, I am learning to trust His plan for me. I'm a better man because of ALS. I'm a better disciple of Jesus Christ because of ALS. I am closer to my amazing wife, literally and figuratively because of ALS."

ALS still sucks, he admitted, but he believes "God loves me and my family."

"He has answered our prayers in unexpected ways. He has blessed my kids and our family. I'm learning to trust that God knows what he is doing. The big picture is...I am happy. Tiffany is the greatest person I've ever known, and I get to spend eternity with her. My kids are doing well, especially under the circumstances and I can control the computer with telepathy. Life is good."

Hopefully, some on the left who have attacked Elon Musk will see this, understand how wrong they have been, and have a change of heart. The Neuralink implant is amazing and they're working on doing even more for Brad. It could revolutionize things for so many people with paralysis like this and that's only part of what they believe they can do. Brad's post brought a lot of hope to many on X who had family members affected by ALS and similar illnesses. What a tremendous gift for the world.

But this experience seems to have helped Brad even more than with the ability to communicate. Would that we all achieve his clarity in life -- that's perhaps an even greater gift.
