Hot Takes: Chris Van Hollen Gets Hit With Intense Backlash for Bizarre Optics of Meet With Abrego Garcia

As we reported on Thursday evening, Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) finally did get to see the illegal alien and alleged MS-13 gang member Kilmar Abrego Garcia, for whom he took his grandstanding tour to El Salvador to see and bring "home." It was a bizarre set of optics.

But it was as a result of 4D chess move by El Salvador's President Nayib Buklele, who decided that he could blow up the Democratic narrative showing Abrego Garcia was fine and get that damning picture of Van Hollen sipping drinks with him at the same time. Meanwhile, he definitely said he wasn't letting Abrego Garcia out of custody. He also posted how he loved to play chess, if the point wasn't clear enough.

Van Hollen and the Democrats didn't consider how such a picture, with all the information that has now come out on Abrego Garcia, would play with Americans. Now they are going to own it, big time, and it's likely to play around the clock during the midterms as a sign of how clueless the Democrats are.

Van Hollen said he would be sending back Abrego Garcia's "message of love" to his wife, the same woman who previously made allegations that he physically abused her.

Van Hollen was already getting buried for the encounter by everyone on X, including his fellow members of Congress.

Van Hollen, of course, never bothered with meeting with Patty Morin, the mother of Rachel Morin, a Maryland resident, who was killed by an illegal alien. Maybe he thought that picture wouldn't help the Democrats. But if he thinks this picture or the other ones released by President Bukele are helping them, he's seriously deluded. Now he's going to be tied to everything Abrego Garcia has been allegedly involved with, and it will all be his own fault. That's quite the own the Democrats have here.
